Where it is real F ing COLD
To move. It feels like it is going to snow here today.

Flagler Beach, Florida and San Diego come to mind. Cost of living in San Diego maybe a bit high for me..

Here is what I need.

Warm weather year round. I mean 50 plus winter average.

Year round fishing that does not involve ice.

Area hospitals or clinic to work.

Some type of sporting event scene that isn't too far to go to attend.

TIA

New Orleans
New Orleans

Fishing: unbelievable, both inland and offshore
Sports: Saints, Hornets, LSU, NCAA Tournaments, Sugar Bowl, PGA event
Golf courses available in every price range
Disc golf also available
Cost of living: very affordable. Nurses I know seem to make a good living
Food: Excellent
Weather: Pool weather 8 months of the year with mild winters. Drawback is intense summer heat and humidity
Entertainment: Excellent local music scene if you know where to go. Since you know me, you'll know where to go

With your hospital, trach and peds experience, I'd strongly recommend that you try travel nursing and actually live and work somewhere before you make the commitment. It's a true "try before you buy" opportunity and there's placement all over the country.

Isn't New Orleans the murder / crime capital? I would be paranoid over hurricanes.

No, New orleans is not the murder/crime capital. New Orleans ranks 34th in large cities in violent crime rate behind the following list of cities....

St louis
Detroit
Memphis
Oakland
Baltimore
Buffalo
Cleveland
KC
Washington DC
Philly
Indy
Cincy
Miami
Chicago
Atlanta
Nashville
Houston
Minneapolis
Milwaukee
Boston
Pitt
OK City
Sacramento
Anchorage
Wichita
Dallas
Jacksonville

Somebody once told me Pittsburgh was a great place to live, you get 50 sunny days a year, all four seasons, cheap living, Steelers, Penguins, and the best AA affiliate baseball can harvest in the Pirates. Think about it and pretty soon only one health system to work at with UPMC buying all of their competition.

I couldn't agree more. Add to that you'll make more money and live for free and it's really a no lose situation unless you have someone with you(ie kid, spouse). If you look at this route then I would suggest Cali. The pay right now for traveling nurses in Cali is very high. The last nurse I had out there made more than any other nurse I've ever had travel. She ended up renewing her contract she liked it so much and I have feeling I'll probably lose her the next go around.

This might sound odd but I'd seriously consider place on the bayou within 20 minute drive of new orleans. Something about the water-spanish moss- serenity-night sounds and a air boat thats seems extremely appealing to me. Probably would be cost prohibited to have cable or electric ran to a place i'd like.

--and I could always slip into town for rd of golf or head to Cie's house when he had the cooker fired up. :)

--and forgot to add -very tax friendly state:0074

he is paranoid about Hurricanes, so gulf coast and florida are likely out of the equation:0008 I like your area, though:toast:
Tampa never gets hurricanes. I learned that when I was down there. Very, very rarely, if ever from what I was told. Great place to live and I was only there for 5 days to figure that out. Housing is cheap too. The only thing people complain about is the heat.

Been to Pittsburgh, spent Five days there in 99.. Was there in November and caught a Pens game. Me and the Gal I was with took some escalator thing up a hill and walked through parts of town and had beers in a few bars. Also liked the atmosphere on the street with all the bars and after bar food stands..
