You can't explain it. I bitch about these shitbags every day!

Gas was rising every day for over a month. We peaked at $4.16 here last week. Then, as you said......oil dropped $12 a barrel in a couple days. Did gas fall in line? OF COURSE NOT!

It dropped back to $3.99 here over three days. Then, right back up to $4.09 when the spike in oil went up $4-5 in the past couple days.

So, oil still sits at $8 less than it was when gas was $4.16, but gas is $4.09??????

Fuck all of those money grubbing whores!

Three things:

1. I don't fully understand the industry
2. What is the base cost of the "delivery" of gas?
3. What is the base amount of tax that we pay per gallon?

I think 2 & 3 are set, correct? So they would not move with the price of a barrel of oil.

4. It does seem to rise but not fall with the price of a barrel.

prices are expected to drop by about 50 cents a gallon this summer....

i just hope that the gov`t doesn`t start increasing taxes on the producers and refiners because that cost will inevitably be passed on to consumers....:mj09:

That's part of the problem. The boiling frog syndrom.

A while back, you would have shit your pants over paying $3.40, and now you would be "happy", because it is ridiculously priced at $4.00!

But, they slowly turn the heat up, and you are happy when they reduce that heat a little bit.

that is what Exon is pulling in each hour. :popcorn2

you`re such a lemming with the continual "business is bad" meme......

exxon makes 2 cents per gallon of gasoline in profit...our state and federal govts. make 48 cents per gallon profit(taxes) for doing absolutely nothing more than standing in the way of letting the oil companies utilize our own natural resources....

I feel like it sucks but it's they're business and they deserve to make money. There are other options now you know. You can ride a bike, take a bus, buy an electric car.

One thing people don't talk about it how much it cost you to drive per mile today vs 5-10 years ago. If you buy one of these cars that get a ridiculous MPG then you're not spending anymore to drive then you where 10 years ago. What other industry can you say you're spending the exact same thing as you where 10 years ago. Yeah gas prices are higher but technology has advanced and given you the oppty to not lose out because of it. Whether or not you chose to take advantage of it is up to you. My vehicle gets 9mpg in the city. That's just stupid so now I ride my bike to the gym everyday, I have my kids take the bus to school and I try to drive my wife's car as much as possible.

In the shadows
The price on the Oil Crude are oil futures,
which is why the jabbering speculators are
"predicting" a 50 cent drop by summer.

Right now, the gas that we are running is
the winter blend as opposed to the summer
blend which will hit the pumps later this month.

Will the market correct itself?

Several Factors...

1) Who do we attack or invade next?

2) When, where, and what kind of "natural" disaster hits a region that has oil exploration or refining.

First of all they make more then 2 cents a gallon so that is an out and out lie. As for the taxes? Like they are paying these taxes :142smilie They get what they want and the gov't puts on an extra tax. Not to them but to the people that fill up the cars. It is easy to say "we only make two cents a gallon" Then say "we make 10 billion a quarter". You know what is funny about u, u hypocrite? Gm got help from the gov't to survive which u frowned upon but the subsidies (welfare) these crooks get cause they have our politicians bought, seems to be okay with you. Its priceless. Your country and thier people as well as the economy are suffering u dumb dick just because these greedy fukers can't make enuf. These fukers are the perfect example of an oligopoly. They know they have something that everyone most likely needs and they gouged the shit out of us any chance they can.

smartest thing you`ve ever said(maybe the only smart thing you`ve ever said)....
those taxes are passed on to the consumer...and i`m not even talking the "hidden" taxes....the so-called built in taxes(corporate taxes/environmental fees etc)..it`s not called "taxes"...but you pay it right on top of the other 48 cents you pay off the top in state and federal taxes.....they`re passed on......

the rich could care less...the oil companies could care less......it doesn`t bother them.......obama`s happy....he figures he`ll make it so expensive that he can force everyone to take mass transit and he can impose his cap and trade scam...

and the funniest part....you hear one speech after another from obama, the democrats and the left demonizing the oil companies, demanding that they be punished for their outrageous greed and calling for EVEN MORE taxes to be imposed on them THAT YOU WILL END UP PAYING........

 :mj07:

obama knows this...it`s what he wants...

we`re being played like violins...

it`s the average joe that gets hammered...with all these taxes/fees...

the federal government alone is borrowing one hundred and eighty eight million dollars EVERY HOUR to fund its out of control spending habit. ....

$188,000,000 ...every hour of every day.....and that isn't enough....so what`s their answer to the government spending death spiral ?...spend more and tax more...borrow more...:142smilie

--when they were trying to slide the carbon tax through and put on additional gas tax he was :00hour

--fortunately we solved 1/2 the prob and only have to hear about oil companies now--previously it was Bush and the oil companies. :)

There is no shortage. Supplies are rising and usage is going down.
Oil companies again making record profits. Prices rising. I think it's time America stood up to these crooks. Our own oil companies.
