Geez was it all really that bad? I enjoyed it.

What would they have to do to get the "new people" to watch next week? I don't see any reason why someone new wouldn't like it. What sort of alternate storyline would you suggest to please both the diehards and the newbies?

Personally I saw nothing to complain about and will be glued to the set for the next 12 weeks. It's been a long wait but it lived up to my expectations.

here is a theory.......

Last night's episode was the end (or near end) of the series. The remaning new episodes will be what takes place in the time between the end of season 5 and last night's episode. Obviously a bunch of time has passed, i.e. Janice and Bobby having a baby. Then maybe we get one final episode taking place time wise after last night's to let you know whether Tony lives or dies.

I agree that this could be a possibility. There were noticable things skipped last night.

interesting theory.....

problem is that obviously some time has passed in terms of the showm but they still make references to things that happened in the last episode like they happened yesterday (adriana and johnny sak for example) and give a quick, hard to follow intro/synopsis of the past 6-18 month timeframe and events that occur.

hope you're theory isnt true because i dont want to watch an entire season with jonny sak in the clink and watch some anti-climatic ending of jr sorprano accidnetaly shooting tony and then get to see if he lives or dies.

wareagle, are you referring to the 8 episodes that will air after season 6? It is my understanding that those episodes will occur in between seasons...

I think this is going to set up some crazy shit...the boys don't have anyone to keep them in check.

Silvio is in charge now... I have an inkling that won't be sitting well with Paulie.

Like loudog said, tonight seemed like a nice set-up episode. A.J. was very Michael Corleonesque at the end. Hopefully him flunking out of school will get him involved in the family business so he's not such a douchebag anymore.

These next episode will be better, inter-family war!...AJ is a little girl too...Jr is an old crazy man whom AJ will never get too...still this dream chit with Tony is boring

Let's hope these dream sequences do not last much longer, but I do think the power struggle angle could be promising.

I still think the show took a turn for the worse when Furio went back to Italy.

Does anyone else feel like these dream sequences might be some purgartory metaphors? There were a couple of things that didn't sound right. Each time he talked on the phone, none of the women sounded like his wife. Everytime he talks to his kids they sound real young. He doesn't have the right ID, so he can't leave, and the bartender made some crack that it was "dead in here."

On a side note, Edie Falco is an amazing actress. I thought she was incredible on the last episode. Meadow without a bra was pretty good too.

The kids were supposed to sound young...they were going back in time with that. Meadow said something about AJ going to bed or something, and definitely sounded like she was about 10. But I did notice Carmela's voice did sound strangely flat on the phone calls. I just chalked it up to the phone calls being done poorly. Couldn't really see a reason to do that intentionally.

As I saw it, the whole "back in time" thing was done solely to show that at one point Tony was diagnosed with Alzheimers. (Though as soon as the doc found out he wasn't who his ID said he was, and he realized he wasn't going to get paid, he backtracked and just said it was a minor concussion). All of that just to lead into a scenario where his potential brain damage combined with Alzheimers leads to general confusion on Tony's part when he wakes up? I dunno.

The whole dream sequence thing sucks, but I think that episode was merely laying the groundwork for numerous potential storylines. Silvio in charge of the family is a joke, that cannot last. AJ getting involved in the family business...that could be very good.

Whatever, not every episode is going to be a winner. They had to show the severity of Tony's injury and how much everyone is hurting.
