I think the point was that they weren't celebrating the American flag, they were just being shit-stirrers. Maybe I'm wrong and these kids are doing Civil War reenactments on the weekends, but I doubt it.
And don't get me wrong, I don't care that they wore the shirts and I don't think they should get in trouble for it. I was a teenager once upon a time and it sounds like something I would have done. I'm just saying I doubt the motive was that they were defending the honor of our forefathers.

i hope you guys realize this is asian american heritage month...
i guess this mean our kids cannot wear the flag in may.....or does this mean the hispanic kids now cannot wear their flags during the month?...

Completely agree. I would never try to argue that there isn't a double-standard on this issue (or many others, for that matter). But you know, Al & Jesse have to get their face time.
