My wife came home a bit shaken yesterday. Apparently her company laid off about 40 people last Friday. One of them, a woman whom she says was very sweet, went home and killed herself.
The problem is she left her ten year old son behind. There is no father because he passed away some years ago.
My wife was sad. I was sick and an angry. What a selfish bitch. She left a ten year old all alone. I am ok if someone wants to top themselves if they are alone but doing it when you have a child is inexcusable to me.
I had a buddy whose mom killed herself when we were in JR High and to this day he is just not quite right. He has gotten over it I suppose, he is able to hold a job. But he is an emotional wreck. He will never be normal.
This person has ruined her sons life. I just don?t understand how people can do this to their families.

horrible news. the poor child will have to deal with alot. i have close friends whose father commited suicide when they were in jr high. they are all normal upstanding citizens with masters degrees and executive management positions. honestly, i think your friend 's case is not the norm.

Terrible story. We do not know what these poor people are going through to commit such an act.

Horrible news, that kid will never be normal after this.....

as indicated previously in this thread, i personally know and am close with a family whose father took his life while they were kids. all 5 siblings are good folks who have been successful iprofessionally and have all moved on to have their own families.

to say this child has no chance of being 'normal' might make sense to someone not as close to this type of situation as me, but i can assure you that the child definitely has a chance to be normal.

I do not know of anyone that their parents committed suicide, I do know several women that their dads died when they were teenagers of natural causes and they both have issues, psycho...or that could just be because they are women, I do not know

I wish the kid the best :0074

I read yesterday there are more suicides in America than motor vehicle fatalitys

I had a friend in high school that was hunting with his brother. The brother was ahead of him and they were crossing a barb wire fence. The shotgun went off and he killed his brother.

He was never the same person after that.

It was very sad to see him go thru it.

I agree Gibber, when you have a child it is your responsibility to take care of them emotionally and financially. Losing one's job is not even a remote reason to end your lot in life. One door closes another one opens and that is just how life goes. I also have read that when a parent commits suicide that the chances are magnified that the child will as well. What a sad hand this child is dealt......
