I didn't like the story, deliman...
I LUVED IT -
I must have a thousand interesting stories about racetracking, but NOT one like that which is strange. Closest one I got was at Aqueduct - played a number of Daily Doubles all of which had no. 2 in the first race and I knew which ones I had in the second race. Went outside to watch them and saw my no. 2 win the first race.
What do I do... I go to the window and play the only two horses I didn't have going for me in the second race ON TOP of the others in EXACTA bets. Payoffs would have been very nice too. So no matter who wins the second race - I collect.
I didn't bother to check my DD tickets in my pocket. No. 7 wins the second race (on my Daily Double tickets). I remember the Double paid something like $70 - $80. I go in my pocket and - YOU GOTTA BELIEVE this one... that bastage made a mistake on my 2/7 Daily Double, gave me 7/2. ALL THE OTHER TICKETS WERE CORRECT TOO. That is -> that ticket was the ONLY one he screwed up. I lost ALL bets.
Betta believe I went to that window and read him the Riot ACT alright. There's nothing they could do about that, but at least I embarrassed the bastage. I do blame myself a bit though cause I was/still am the bettor that runs to the window with less that a minute to post and stick them in my pocket, no time to check tickets.
unfortunately, most of the stories I remember were nightmares.
Sheesh, now ya got me started so I gotta tellya the bestest one I remember...
It's only something I saw happen, didn't participate in it.. but it's a good one.
During my first year in Flal I thought I'd check out JaiAlai (whatever you call it, thems bounce the ball off the wall and you bet on them). Don't remember the exact nos. .. but let's say no 8 won the first game. They post the nos. and put up no. 7 (WRONG NO.) and that paid something like $52 (I DO know the price was close to that) to win and they posted it's payoff. The real winner, No. 8 was 3/1 or 4/1. I go past the tellers and I see people running out the door after visiting the cashiers.... the dummies were paying off on the wrong no. It took them about 4 or 5 minutes to realize what the hell was going on. LMAO.
I was here when Fla. started their lottery ... You wouldn't believe (
I was told about it and read about it) how many people GOT AWAY with slicing off some of the nos. or payoff amount on losing scratch offs and very neatly GLUING them on other losing tickets to make them winners and the dummies behind the counters were cashing them. I AIN'T kidding ya. They got away with that for almost the first 3 weeks of the first issuance of scratch offs.
Tellya, deliman.. Fla. is a GREAT place to live, but
it IS a Mickey Mouse outfit.
Do stop in "my" (actually no MEMBER owns anything in these forums) thread again, deliman
