Had mine removed as well
Had mine taken out in April and you can take it slow, definitely stay away from fried foods for a while. I had nacho's with the works tonight and it does not bother me at all. GL on a speedy recovery :0074
Betone is right, also avoid spicy foods for a while as they won't sit well with you. I found myself eating some guacamole after the surgery and this didn't set well with me at all. When I had mine out I didn't want to eat anything at first, but soon afterwards I found myself eating like a pig for a while. I didn't gain ANY weight for a while, the doctor even said if you find yourself eating more that's normal because your body is going to need the calories. This lasts about six weeks and if you do it after that time period you're going to gain weight.
Also, coming out of the surgery you will find yourself awfully bloated. In my opinion this is the worst part. They fill you up with gas so they can see when they do the procedure. I absolutely hated this part, drink lots of water and it will go away in a few days. The more post surgery exercise you get the better off you will be after the surgery, don't over do it though. I went on short walks, this helped immensely.
I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.
