What does everyone think of Baltimore? My gut is the Jags, but looking down the road I don't know if I'll have another chance to use the Ravens in such a strong spot.

I think you're good to go with Balt, wish I'd
have thought of that one. I went with Seahawks
wk 1 and Jax wk 2. Watch the Falcons pull
another Tits performance :mj07:

I have five entries in a pool, managed to survive week 1 with all five picks (went Sea-Sea-Hou-Dal-Dal). Going Bears-Bears-Bears-Den-Pit this week.

Never too early to look at the matchups for next week in our quest to be the survivor folks...the lines are all out and if you have not picked the following teams, they should be on your mind this week

In no particular order:

New England (looong season for Buffalo, the motivation is there but sadly not the talent, Losman is clearly not the answer)

Pittsburgh (San Fran going to the East Coast for an early start, Pitt's run D is fairly stingy and 49ers is all about Gore)

Baltimore (depending on whether McNair is playing, can't trust Boller)

I got Denver for Week 2, what a nail-biter it was! If you are still in the hunt, feel free to chime in with your thoughts and tidbits

Good luck to all and surviving we shall!

Hey guys, was looking for this thread this year, but couldn't find it.

We started off with 867 people and are down to 527. I started with 5 picks and lucky enough, still have all of them.

Last 2 years have lost in the second to last week of the season. Both years SF went on the road and beat a playoff team. Last year was especially tough, because 2 guys split 4k each.. and I went against my own rule and picked a primetime game.

Here are the rules I live by...
- NEVER take a primetime game. It is unbelievable how teams show up in primetime
- NEVER take a team on the road for a second week, if they won the first week.
- NEVER pick the same team more than once. I know sometime it is tempting, but just like investing, you should never have all of your eggs in 1 basket.
- If possible, do not take a team on the road at all.
- I stay away from teams that are on more than a 4 game winning streak of 4 game losing streak. Look at the NFL, streaks of 5 or more games are very rare
- Just like capping, take time and look at the team you are going to pick. Is there a rivarly between the teams? What is the weather like? How have they played each other in the past.

It is hard to say who I am going to pick, since I have 5 teams left and pretty much every team is available for me to choose. That being the case, I will call out teams that stick out as 'stay away' games.

snoozer good to see you back. I agree with your *rules* but I would like to point out that most if not all of the survivor pools (at least the ones that I am partaking in) do not allow you to pick the same team more than once.

In fact, that's the only rule for Survivor Pools, besides picking a straight-up winner each week of course.

Best of luck to you this weekend bud, it ain't over till it's over.

I think he's referring to when you have multiple entries in a single pool. Like how I have five in mine, and I took the Bears with three of the five entries. It worked out for me, but one game could've killed 60 percent of my entries.

well, looking at the teams, these are the picks that stand out for week 3

Best Bets
NE - #1 choice. downside is that this will be everyone's choice, unless they took them in week 1. It would be great to see them lose and knock out 90% of every pool, but I don't see it happening. Can't remember a team favored this big losing a game (except Miami 2 years ago on opening day when they were -17)

Pitt - very hard to win in PItt, throw in the fact that the 49ers are feeling good after starting 2-0 in the divison. I see a letdown here. I am big on going against a team that plays 2 weeks in a row on the road and they win the first game.

Ravens - same story as the 49ers... Arizona had a nice week last week, see a letdown

Philly - see a letdown from the lions, expect Philly to play a lot better. My concern is that it will be low scoring, so it could turn a 1 play. Plus I really don't like taking 0-2 teams.

Leans -
Indy... Houston has looked impressive this year. I think there will be better spots for Indy, plus I try to stay away from road team whenever possible

NO - another 0-2 team...I think playing at home will really help them. i hate playing primetime games, but I think they blow out tennessee. They contained vick pretty well last year, expect the same against young.

If I had no other choice -
KC, JETS, Broncos

I have 5 picks...I will be taking the 'best bets'... I will either break my own rule and take NO, or break my other rule and take NE two times.

in 2 survivor pools and have played same teams in both pools-
seattle week 1
chicago week 2

as for week 3
would not be surprised if arizona beats baltimore
or detroit beats philly or san fran beats pittsbug
or houston playing tough against indy and even a fluke upset-

that leaves new england for my week 3 play

if your looking at dog plays this week i would look at cincy-jacksonville-ny giants-

gl this week-

then pittsburg- dallas-carolina are worth a look in week 4

Above the Clouds....
I expect the majority in my pool to take N.E. seeing as most are fans. Was thinking of taking Pitt, but I think N.E. is the pick...

I would love to go against NE with Pitt this week also and have NE flop. That would eliminate just about everyone. I really don't see that happening tho. GL this week!!

I may have to rethink my pick (can change it all the way up till sun in the pool Im in).

Have 717 left in pool and I think at least 400 could be knocked out if NE loses. That in itself makes not picking them extremely tempting. It isnt likely that NE will lose but wierder stuff has happened before.

In 2 pools:
Week 1 picks were the Vikings and Texans

Week 2 was the Steelers in both,

Week 3
Leaning the Raiders at home ... yes, it's scary but I think they take it.

New England is the obvious play but I prefer not to use them here. Might in the bigger pool though.

In my pool with a ton of entries, I went with Pitt, thinking NE will be the popular side.

I'm also in a small pool, only 9 people left, took NE as I see it being safe.

Just my 2 cents.

I looked at the schedule & was thinking if I don't use N.E. this week, what week would I use them. Week 5 they are home against Clev., but there are other options that week so I'm just going to take N.E. this week...
