Layin, I used to live in Bent Tree in Addison. Awesome area. The Blue Fish place is the next road north of Trinity Mills, on the west side of the Tollway.
Tokyo One is right on the Beltline, you better wear some sweatpants or elastic stretch pants and be prepared to stay for awhile:mj07:

:bump:

this is an older thread, but I find myself in the same place as a few of you. Never thought I would eat it, started going to lunch with buddies who liked it, now go about once a week and crave it.

I'm going today for lunch to an all you can eat special for 10 bucks :scared We eat at this place all the time, and this is a special that the management there are trying out.

I want to order at least 1 different roll that I haven't had before, maybe 2 and one of the more expensive ones that I haven't had before.

The only meat so far that I haven't cared for is Salmon  I've never had squid, I like shrimp, crab, eel, all the kinds of tunas, and the assorted fish they serve.

List some of your favorite rolls. Thanks!

I primarily don't eat rolls anymore. Sashimi style is my favorite.

Edamame is my appetizer of choice.

As far as rolls go, you better have some spicy aioli or it ain't happening. :)

Is there a sushi craze right now? My viriginity was taken in '98 right after college at a shithole, but I was hooked from the start.

Fugu Sashimi. (Pufferfish)

Winter months are the best time to eat it.

Do not order this from a low end type place. I would only get it at a very nice/respected restaurant, unless you want to have your stomach dumped & pumped full of activated charcoal!) :scared

My only comment would be don't eat sushi if the chefs or majority of the staff are Chinese or Korean.

Japanese or bust.

It's an art form that to do properly takes a lot of training.

Of course, sometimes, a roll is a roll

Fugu Sashimi. (Pufferfish)

:00hour

Had some for the 1st time last time at the local sushi joint...have never tasted anything like it. Almost all sashimi for me these days, too. I'll get a side of rice, but usually leave most of it and eat it only after eating the fish.

10 bucks for an all you can eat sushi place, 65? My half of the bill when my wife and I eat sushi is easily 50 bucks-not hard to do when the pieces of sashimi run 2-5 dollars each...

Avid sushi eater here. For the brave, try finishing your meal with this:

Uni (sea urchin) with a raw quail egg on top

Disclaimer....do not try if you are still a roll type of sushi eater at this point. This is great for those of you who have progressed to mainly sashimi. Trust me on the raw quail egg....this is a phenomenal combination but you have to keep an open mind. I also try to order at a higher end sushi joint.
