I can't believe this is actually a thing.
I've never given the ticker a second thought.

we DVR all tv shows to watch later..

snow and storm days the ticker is on for hours and hours..as many as 14 in a day alerting watchers of closings and openings..

helpful to those with the need to know at the time but irritating while watching a show days later..
