From changing clothes to putting on makeup, teenagers are engaging in a slew of surprising distractions while driving. (Photo: Getty Images/Andersen Ross)
Eating, and drinking, and grooming, oh my. Distracted teen drivers are doing a whole lot more than texting behind the wheel. More than a quarter of teens admit that they?ll occasionally change clothes and shoes while driving in a study recently published in the Journal of Transportation Safety and Security.

Mid Jan I got rear-ended by a teen on her phone. I was sitting at a railroad crossing with a red light. Could see im my mirror she was typing on her phone and saying to myself please stop then wham. Her car was totaled my truck needed her pos scraped off the hitch. Allstate YOUR FULL OF BS.
I looked at my truck and saw the only damage was paint was removed from the hitch. All she cared about was her car was totaled then she started to cry and it actually made me start to laugh at her aloud, her reply to me was " its not funny my car is broken." My reply was "totaled and broken are different look at the engine block you can see into it LLOLOLOLOLOL".

The one benefiting the most with all those distracted drivers out there are funeral parlors, insurance companies and body shops.
Here's a good one or should I say "The worst I've ever seen"; picture this scenario: Old rusty pick up truck, towing a trailer with a horse in it ; old lady behind the wheel, cigarette in left hand, phone on right hand, small dog on her lap looking out the window, bigger dog on passenger seat looking out the other window; speeding (70 mph or better) on the left lane (where she should not be to begin with) on I-8o in California during afternoon rush hour around the area of the Carquinez bridge. I was driving a commuter bus with 45 + passengers aboard, so I just stayed far behind her, just in case... true story...!:142smilie

I was driving home a couple of weeks ago. I was on 94east. This large suv swerved into my lane. so I thought maybe a drunk driver. So I cautiously
pull up next to the suv to see whats going on. Remember we're both going arounnd 67-70 miles per. It's a women texting. No hands on the wheel, NOTHING.
Face down into her device. I honked my horn to try and get her attention. To my surprise instead of being embarrassed of being caught and placing her hands on the wheel all i got was the middle finger.....WHY DON'T WE HAVE A POLICE UNITE DRIVING AROUND AND ALL THEY DO IS LOOK FOR TEXTERS. ONCE CAUGHT, RIGHT ON THE SPOT REVOKE THE LICENSE. REMEMBER DRIVING IS A PRIVILEGE, "NOT A RIGHT"

Not only teens. This week alone I saw a guy behind me with an electric razor doing what he should have done at home. A woman that was putting on make up. Another woman was turned around smacking her kids in the back seat. Almost got hit by a semi. And last but not least a teen with one leg out the window driving. I wonder what their excuses will be when they hit & possibly cause a death by not paying attention to what they are suppose to be doing. Not something that I would want to have on my conscience.

It's crazy the amount of people who I see doing things while driving. So you call them out on it. Nothing bad at first. Maybe you honk your horn. Maybe you wave and give them a what are you doing look. They get mad at you. They start yelling at you or flipping you off.
/> Wait they are in the wrong and they are putting everyone on the road in danger. Why are they mad at me?
I don't care if you do stupid things. Go ahead get yourself killed. Just don't involve anyone else. .

I was once nearly side-swiped by a woman driving a minivan with her elbows because she was eating two cheeseburgers at once. :0corn
Another woman just last week was doing her eye makeup and flipping her hair all over as she was in the far left lane speeding, trying to kill others.
It isn' ;t just teenagers. I've seen grown men and women reading, doing crosswords, flipping through newspapers, holding their dogs while chugging back coffee and smoking....
It also just isn't texting, people swerve as they change radio stations or drop something, or reach behind to give their kid a sippy cup.

I've watched grown men changing their pants in the driver's seat, women putting on make-up, and teens texting, but the one that #$%$ me off the most is when I nearly get hit by a police officer having a chat on his cell phone. Not a chat that looks work related, but the kind where you smile, laugh , and gesture with your hands. Yeah, I can say with complete honesty that I have nearly been hit more times by police officers on their phones than anyone else. :00hour

I have seen so many STUPID people driving on I-4 one of the deadliest highways that runs through central FL. While they passing me, (going well over the speed limit), I've seen women putting on makeup, men reading what looks like their work for the whole week, people lighting up their cigarettes while texting & driving. Why do so many people not use their brains anymore? It's one think if you crash and die, but too often you take someone else's life too!

That may be true but I have seen adult men shaving and reading newspapers and adult women taking rollers our of their hair, brushing it out and applying makeup. I have also seen adults driving with kids/pets in their lap. I saw a woman a few years ago in a minivan with kids in the front and back seats and she was waiting to enter traffic with a plate in one hand while eating a slice of pizza with the other hand. When she moved into traffic, she put the plate somewhere and kept eating the pizza. I have seen women driving while turned around and talking to or yelling at kids. People don't think about the consequences of their stupid actions. I witnessed a woman run a red light at a fast rate of speed in the 90s and hit an ambulance, flipping it upside down. She was on a phone.

Just today, in Michigan, a 24 year old reaching for his Monster Drink, ran down a 12 year old walking to his stopped bus. Lights flashing, STOP arm out, this M0R0N says he didn't see the bus!!!:cuss:

It's not just teenagers. In Gresham, Oregon a 23 year old woman hit three pedestrians. Records prove that she was using a cell phone and a camera just before the crash, leaving no hands on the wheel.

One of the worst I have heard was from a truck driver who was on an interstate. He saw a girl with both feet on the dash painting her toenails while driving. He said she would drift from one lane to another or drift towards the edge of the road. She almost hit several other vehicles but wouldn't quit painting her toenails.

Driving to work the other day, in a snow/ice story, I saw a guy taking a left turn texting, next thing he knows, he slides into the back of a city bus. As I drove by, I pointed and laughed, he gave me the finger. I think I came out ahead.:142smilie
