While this has to hurt one very important MadJacker amongst us, he has to (I assume) his net worth has taken a turn for the better. Unless, of course, he sold everything and hedged against the financial success of the current President and our country.

No answer, needed, really. Those that are STILL bitching about the economy of this country are still doing very well in their portfolios, I would guess. I know I personally have three that are doing very well.

Politics? That's another matter. Evidently those that invest in the market have not been overly concerned about Obama and where the country is going.

I am always happy to see markets do well--but also look for reasons why. I would be happy to get others input on why they think markets have survived despite--
record unemployment
record forclosures
record bank failures
record federal deficits
record spending.

My thoughts --most of positive market has been result of profits. What effect would you think that fewer employees and less expansion/inventory would have on bottom line?

--by the way--we had historical report today.
for 1st time in history GM sold more cars in China than U.S. this past year.

IMO if O had concentrated on what you will hear in his rhetotic tonight instead of his actions 1st 2 years--I believe we would be much better off.

Oh, I've got something to add alright...

record unemployment - Thank you George W. Bush
record forclosures - Thank you George W. Bush
record bank failures - Thank you George W. Bush
record federal deficits - Thank you George W. Bush
record spending - Thank you George W. Bush

Any questions?

Things starting to turn around. Dow rising.

Cars being sold at record levels.

Economic cycles, it does not matter who is president:0008

...............................................................'

sure thats what you say now hedge

Remember when you were jumping up and down over the house being taken over by the neo cons.'

That was going to solve everything.

Repubs repeal Health Care. Total waste of time.
Meanwhile Obama has programs in place to slam some corruption worth billions.

next move by Neo Cons will be abortion. Got to stop that abortion. Repeal it. Oh oh ... another waste of time.

yeh now what.

Sure is good that the cycle is going to lead us right into November 2012

Its all good.

Better hurry and try to get the goods on that birth certificate.

Got to hand it to Obama

He is smart and nothing rattles him.

He is running the largest country in the world.

And other countrys are respecting America.

Things are as they should be.....

Bottom line-

-those that complained- 14.000 plus dow/unemployment under 5%
-were worse times since great depression

--are now cheering economy!

--that's a pretty tough crowd to have "objective discussion" with--:SIB

I expect O to have very good speech tonight. He knows new congress matra is debt reduction (whether serious or not) so will have to move to the center. That coupled with his seeing the light on taxes-carbon taxes dead--we could have a great 2 years ahead.

The big issue in cutting spending--per both sides is waste/fraud/abuse

with that thought in mind--from Thomas Sowell
An Interview With Thomas Sowell - Caroline May, The Daily Caller

An excellent interview

"Politicians, whenever they want to weasel out of some big spending problem, they say, ?we?ll eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.? Of course they never do it. But if they did eliminate waste, fraud and abuse, the government would shrink to a fraction of its size. There are whole departments that represent nothing but waste, fraud, and abuse. I would think for example the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services, you could run through a whole list of them. So the question is not whether there are a lot of things that are expendable from the standpoint of the public interest, the question is whether anyone has the political will to take on the special interests ? who are going to defend to the death their particular branch of the waste, fraud, and abuse"

Bobby You pick a poor example--You have any idea how many investors/bond holders lost their shirt--in this gov/union corruption.

Just one of hundreds of article on topic

By MARK MODICA & HAL JOHN

But, to us, the IPO will be proof of something else: a White House that purposefully trampled the legal rights of investors -- many of whom, like us, are small savers -- to benefit its political supporters. Rather than a model of success and foresight, the GM episode is a model of corruption and cronyism.

The scarey part of this is-as you say
-"yes they can"
