Frankly, I don't care how we get our costs down - if we have to lay off 12,000 folks instead (as this is the alternative), that's ok. I guess that is the union's call at this point - pick their poison, so to speak.

FYI - even if 61% is right (I don't think that is), it really is immaterial. 56% are still against Obamacare, but it still was passed. So, what the people want doesn't matter to politicians.

Not true. The majority are behind him. Of course, those that have most to lose will be the loudest.

A lot of people in the state are very proud of him - most politicians are too scared to take on budget issues and make the tough choices. See Obama, Barack.

Obama was too afraid to even SUBMIT a budget during the entire 2010 budget year.

Walker is showing leadership (whether you agree with him or not). I still have not seen Obama cut spending, or more importantly, put any proposals out there to cut governments costs and entitlement programs (which are the bulk of our spending).

Even the 61% poll said not to put too much weight on polling - the way the question is asked can drive the response.

It's all who you know. If you are a union type person, you tend to know a lot of them - so everyone agrees with you. If you are a taxpaying non union type (and there are more of those in WI than government/union employees), then you tend to see them agree.

Well I guess the only people who I know that support this are staunch republicans. Many people who I have talked to who voted for Walker a bit miffed now. You are right it is who you know and there is a lot of time left but I would say it doesn't look good now up here anyway

I don't think benefits are the issue at hand. Most agree that state employees should pay more for pensions and health care. In fact the Unions agreed to it. The issue is that he is taking their right to collective bargain in the future and it isn't right. Maybe that is where we disagree on state support for this. Yeah more are for them paying in more but not to take rights away.
