61% do not support this Mags. He is losing support, get your blinders off. The people feel duped and thosee that are pist will show up to the pols in record numbers

Where are you getting the 61% don't support this in Wisconsin? I have yet to see a poll of WI resident taxpayers on this issue.

I'd love to see it.

Frankly, I don't care how we get our costs down - if we have to lay off 12,000 folks instead (as this is the alternative), that's ok. I guess that is the union's call at this point - pick their poison, so to speak.

FYI - even if 61% is right (I don't think that is), it really is immaterial. 56% are still against Obamacare, but it still was passed. So, what the people want doesn't matter to politicians.

Again, please direct me to the WI poll that shows 61%. Not saying you are wrong - I'd just like to see it.

More unsupported BS from Maggot - The majority are behind him.

A separate automated Wisconsin poll released last week by We Ask America also found more opposition than support for Walker's plan. In this case, the sponsor was not a union group but an organization affiliated with the Illinois Manufacturers Association.

http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/116785183.html

A new USA Today/Gallup poll shows that the public doesn?t support efforts by GOP governors such as Scott Walker of Wisconsin to eliminate some of the collective bargaining rights of public employee unions, including the teachers? union. Of Americans surveyed, only 33 percent said they would favor such a bill in their own state, while 61 percent oppose it.

Duff has links, Maggot don't. LMAO!!

Listen dumbass - 61% is not a WI number - which is exactly my point.

Either way - you and the Dems are gonna lose. That's the best part of all of this! :00hour

Not true. The majority are behind him. Of course, those that have most to lose will be the loudest.

A lot of people in the state are very proud of him - most politicians are too scared to take on budget issues and make the tough choices. See Obama, Barack.

Obama was too afraid to even SUBMIT a budget during the entire 2010 budget year.

Walker is showing leadership (whether you agree with him or not). I still have not seen Obama cut spending, or more importantly, put any proposals out there to cut governments costs and entitlement programs (which are the bulk of our spending).

Borrowing from the old Almond Joy song "Scott Walker has nuts, Obama don't".

This was from Fox News they first reported it 61% approval rating then had to come back and apologize for the error and say it was 61% opposed. Now I could be wrong about it being wisconsin that maybe a national thing

JFC you're dumb. Let's try this again, Maggot. Maybe you can get one of your kiddies to read it to you -

Here, I'll make it big enough so even a myopic turd can see it -

BP - it is a national poll.

Rasmussen had it at 48% behind Walker and 38% for the unions (again, national poll).

Even the 61% poll said not to put too much weight on polling - the way the question is asked can drive the response.

It's all who you know. If you are a union type person, you tend to know a lot of them - so everyone agrees with you. If you are a taxpaying non union type (and there are more of those in WI than government/union employees), then you tend to see them agree.

Well I guess the only people who I know that support this are staunch republicans. Many people who I have talked to who voted for Walker a bit miffed now. You are right it is who you know and there is a lot of time left but I would say it doesn't look good now up here anyway

again - pull what YOU want from the data...

http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/116785183.html

same link - same article

University of Wisconsin polling expert Charles Franklin cautioned that the amount of independent polling data is still very limited, and that how this particular issue is framed for people (and how surveys are put together and worded) can make a big difference in the opinions people express.

The people of Wisconsin voted in November - to send a Rebublican Governor and Congress into session. That is the TRUE polling data and in actuality, the only poll that counts.

That is true. For me I am not against the fact that state employees should pay more for pension and healthcare. I think they should, My problem is that he wants to crush unions and take away bargaining rights.

Here's the thing. At this point NOBODY is against state employees paying more for pension and healthcare - INCLUDING THE STATE EMPLOYEES, who have already agreed to both. If this were the issue, the Governor would have accepted their offer - which is what he asked for (the sad truth about this). To me this is the ultimate hypocrisy in his position.

Chad, I believe you asked about the comparison of private sector and public sector benefits.

I don't think benefits are the issue at hand. Most agree that state employees should pay more for pensions and health care. In fact the Unions agreed to it. The issue is that he is taking their right to collective bargain in the future and it isn't right. Maybe that is where we disagree on state support for this. Yeah more are for them paying in more but not to take rights away.
