Since you've been gambling, what was the one loss you suffered that sticks out above all the rest? I was on that Mariners/Indians game about 5 or 6 years ago when Seattle blew a 12-2 lead in the 7th inning. Only the fourth time in the history of baseball that a team came back from a 10 run deficit as late as the 7th to win the game. I could not believe my eyes! I have been on some tough ones, but from a historical standpoint alone, I can't imagine it being any worse.

The Music City Miracle busted up the last play of a 5-teamer for me.

Don't remeber exactly what happened but I had the Bills plus points over the patroits. Pats scored on last play of game when ref made a horrible call. Bills were so pissed they walked off the field. All I needed was Pats to kick the XP and I win by 1/2 point. With no Bills on the field , Pats walked it in for a 2pt conversion.

Does it get worse then that?

Doesn't really fit into the "one I'll never forget" because I can't remember the teams involved. . . but we were watching the game together at Grunions after one of our softball games - I think it was Ark - college hoops - kid gets a steal/breakaway w/ just a few seconds left - all he has to do is score - he sees wide open court, and thinks: "ShowTime!" He does some crazy move for a dunk - it goes off of the iron - bounces all the way to half court - other team hits a 3 - and covers. Neither of us were on it, but I remember talking in depth about those guys that were on it. UGH!

winner:

random saturday afternoon baseball game two years ago. yanks/blue jays.

had under 9.5

blue jays up 2-0 in the bottom of the ninth.
NOBODY on base.
TWO outs.
Kenny Lofton at the plate with 2 strikes. One strike away from game over.

I lose the under 9.5.

Mathematical probability of losing this bet wasn't even able to be calculated on nasas computers. kinda like pi.

end of thread. can't be beat.

I'm sure it was a $30 or $50 5 teamer. For my gambling style, it was going to be a substantial win. Damn, that was a long time ago. I actually despised the Titans from that day until I moved to Nashville. :)

Worst I have seen, College team getting +11 in OVERTIME, bet over right? WRONG, opposing team scores and goes up by 7 then the team he bet throws a pick and the other team runs it back to win by 13. I didnt even know it was possible. :com: 3 Dimes

Trump,

That might be the wackiest twist of fate I have ever seen. The Hoosiers were involved, but I can't remember their opponent. Game was played at IU. Anyone out there know which game we're talking about?

I also remember reading somewhere - maybe S.I. about some guy that had $20k on that Yankees game where Ventura (I think) had that Grand Slam - Single that won the game, but didn't cover/or hit the over because of the ruling on the field - he rounded first, but never crossed the plate, because his teammates were mobbing him. There was a big stew about it when it happened - even got broken down at the time, but this guy had quite a bit of money on it. This guy goes from thinking he is losing his bet to extreme jubilation when Ventura hit the "Grand Slam" to bring in the win on his bet - he apparently goes to bed thinking he won, and then woke up, read the papaer, and shiot his pants! :scared

I rarely bet baseball, but last summer I had Cincinnati as a nice dog for 300 to bring back 420 against St. Louis. The Reds were winning 9-3 going into the ninth inning and it was the ESPN game. Well, I watched the Cardinals score 7 runs to win 10-9. I wanted to puke as I was bored and wanted some action on a sport I rarely wager on. Now I know why.

Some bad and good ones

Some bad and good ones

I was on the wrong end of the Seattle Mariners 10-0 lost lead game, also historic because they would have broken the record of 116 wins instead of tied it that one terrific year they had, made a lot betting them after a loss, they usually rebounded with a vengence that year, they seemed to hate to lose. Also lost music shitty miracle,Cordell's hail Mary at ann Arbor,an intentional safety with 19 sec to go cost me a six team parlay which would have paid 6000.Lost on a 70 yd pass at the end of a Miami/Raider game that was completed to a wr running 15 yd away from the intended wr when the ball ricocheted off the intended wr's helmet as time ran out, right into the hands of the uncovered other wr.Won a 4000 straight being on the right side of a two point conversion as the last score of an alabama/Mia nat championship game,at the end of 12+ hours of bowling one Jan 1,easiest two pointer I've ever seen scored too.Won one of my biggest plays ever on the SF 55-10 Denver game playing SF and the over, plus got a free trip ,hotel and tickets to game laid on me so I got to watch it come in live from Nawlins.Enjoyed having Riggins and Wash plus the over vs Mia as he ran the "winning" score in from 44 yds.Enjoyed figuring out early in the decade of the '80s that most years the NFC and the over was the play in the SB from the dominant team.

Back when I was "on the other side" it was a noon ESPNer Sat morn 1997 Purdue vs. Michigan St. back in the Saban Era. Everyone in their sister was on Purdue for some reason- we are talking HUGE. The game started @ Mi State -1.5 ultimately ending @ Purdue -1.

Michigan St is up 11 with about 1:40 left. It is 4th and 2 Spartan ball on Purdue 32. Keep in mind they are up 11, so two scores no matter how you look at it. Of course you either go for it or punt- a long field goal puts you up 14 (if you make it) still two scores. Well that idiot Saban runs out the field goal unit and I'm thinking direct snap to kicker and he punts....

NO, that idiot Saban tries a 49 yd field goal which (of course) gets blocked and returned for a TD. 1:30 left Purdue goes for 2 point conversion and gets it. Now they are down 3. Onside kick....Purdue recovers.

So now I'm thinking great here we go this thing is going to O.T. The game is a PK essentially. Well, it didn't go to OT- Purdue took it and scored 6 in about 3 plays. UNBELIEVABLE! I still have a vendetta against Saban to this day. I physically ripped my shirt off Incredible Hulk stylie. I tried to toss a laptop out of the 7th story of my Costa Rica office and was restrained fortunately. It got worse when I realized the actual "swing" that had just occurred. SABAN IS AN IDIOT

Yet another reason I became a Dodger hater :scared :scared

August 21, 1990

Leading 11-1 in the eighth inning, the Dodgers were all set to gain a game on the first-place Reds. But then it happened. The Philadelphia Phillies, thanks to shitty Dodger relief pitching and two errors by rookie Jose Offerman, :fingerc: , scored two runs in the eighth inning and nine runs in the ninth to defeat the Dodgers, 12-11.
Trailing, 11-1, the Phillies scored their two runs in the eighth against Don Aase on a two-run double by Von Hayes. OK, fine, 11-3 going into the ninth. After Dodger rookie Dave Walsh retired only one of the first seven batters in the ninth, Tim Crews was brought in. Dale Murphy immediately hit a two-run double off Crews to narrow the gap to 11-8. John Kruk then delivered the big blow, a three-run homer off Crews. Rod Booker followed with a single and scored the game-winner when Carmelo Martinez doubled off Jay Howell. Tommy Lasorda was so livid he would have ripped his own balls off if his fat stomach didn't get in the way. moon1 moon1
