Depending on how today's weather, track, and mostly how the horsies run.. ... today is gonna tell me whether it's time for a long break again. Keeping the bets low has helped but the clear message I'm getting from my horsie friends at Philly is to STOP. Just like I wrote here.. I plan on doing just that if the crap continues but I ain't stoppin on a TUE$. We'll see.

Get ready to raise your eyebrows after reading this; but do read it cause there really is a point to this writing that could help some players...

Right after that 8th (or was it the 9th?) race yesterday I was sooo disgusted that I wrote that "I saw enough....". I saw that there was a 10th race and it looked playable. I planned to just see IF I could come up with a winner but ONLY for fun cause I was down and fed up enough at that point. I kept going over the 10th as the 9th race was running and to shorten this story... I did came up with 2 picks. Let's call them horse A and horse B to save some typing. I did wind up playing the race for real, thinking "might as well finish this day off". NO WAY was I gonna post a thing and embarrass myself more or even worser lose somebody else's moola.

Musta wrote this many times that the thing to do when you come up with exactly 2 picks AT PHILLY is to wheel one top/bot in zactas and play the other straight (Win,only or Win/Place or across the board). I also wrote to keep the bets small cause IF ya can cap em .. you'll win and IF ya can't cap em at least you'll know it and you won't lose much. That goes for the long run that is.That doesn't mean that you can't up the ante after the bankaroo has tripled though, but only by a little at a time.

Am I writing this to let yas know I hit a winner in the last race? HELL NO!. I'm writing this to prove a point. FACT IS, I'm still trying to figure out how I picked that no. 2 hoss in that last race. I have an idea but I won't get into that here.

My picks were the no. 2 and the no. 9. NOW, ya gotta decide which one to do the zacta thingy. I picked the lesser odds one, no. 9 (usually that is the best choice cause at Philly - you want to catch that Philly super long shot with YOUR horse to make the Super Philly zacta sandwich that tastes soo good). And at this twack... there's always one of them Super Subs coming down the conveyer belt from time to time.

Even making the wrong decision in that last step STILL worked for me like it should cause Tickling Tori won at 13-1 odds. My stinkin $4 win/place (4 each way) paid for the day with some left over (not much though) to cover some previous day losses as well. KEEP THE BETS SMALL, skip ALL the UNplayable races, and stay in the game, MJers.

Is the "wheel one and straight bet the other a good idea WHEN YOU ONLY HAVE TWO CONTENDER?". Oh yeeah! Here's why.... . .

Maybe I should start flipping a coin to make that decision cause the horse that finished second to my "hoss A wiener" was one of them Philly BOMBERS. Now, how bout collecting $719 on my ONE STINKIN dollar exactas? Yeah, that zacta paid $1,438.40. Again -> no, I didn't hit that exacta :(

I'll post today's play(s) in this thread and BEWARE cause I ain't changing my methods of picking them which had horrendous results lately.

Tuesday picks at Philly

Tuesday picks at Philly

Careful now!

Track should be back to normal, it's Tue$, and there looks like there may be some Super Subs being served today. But, Poo Poo has been the only thing I'm getting hit with lately ... so beware. Keep it small.

Race 4
Absolutely crazy race. Don't believe I EVER saw a race like this and, in my case, EVER is a long, long time... at the track that is :)

Small field and I'm coming up with the 3 longest shots in the race as my top 3 picks ACCORDING TO MY FIGURES not just my opinion. Just unreal. ONE stinkin dollar exactas and spread $20 around on the straight play (Win/Place or W/Pl/Sh) or.. . just don't follow me down this cwazy path.
Zactas - 2,3, top/bot with 1,6,8 ($12 TOT.)
No 1, Smarty Slewy (10-1 M.L.) <-- this one is the straight play. I liked this one the last time she ran and like her again today. Horse does her best with the inside post pos. and today she's got the best post for this distance with a longshot rider. She has shown some real promise awhile back but NOT lately.

Race 5
Just exactas that were made using the contenders. These nos. go together (really) and both sides of exactas are contenders. Tough to explain.. but, here they are:
no. 2 top/bot with 4,6
no. 4 top/bot with 3,5
I know it looks very amateurish but it really isn't. Two dollar variety only costs $16 and could produce a decent profit (bet he rest of the day with some left over) with this track's payouts.

Race 6
Spent the most time with this dang wace and, right now, it just amounts to a NO PLAY. I gotta see these before i bet a thing. Here's the deal...

No. 2, L.A. Girl, lays all over these. BUT, she didn't look like herself in her last race and I didn't like what I saw of her at all.

No. 5, 6-1 M.L, is VERY likely to go wire to wire, but will get severe pressure from the no. 2 if the latter is OK. There are a couple more that could fry her ass early as well in here.

No. 3 is the LONGSHOT in this race.

I just may go and do something else when this race is up at bat so I don't get tempted to play any in here. However, I will check out the odds on the 5 and 3. If they DON'T bet one of them, I will. BTW, IF the also eligibles (esp. 11 or 12, both are dangerous) draw into this race - just forget about this wace.

Race 7
I DO believe you wanna do something with the no. 1 horse in this race, Hello Lover . I just hope that this one isn't bet to far below it's M.L. of 5-1. BIG problem is that this one looks TOO GOOD to be true. You know, almost as much as that mutha jumpa, One of Best, yesterday that didn't even get a call during it's race. Sheeet! The 2,7,8, and 9 could produce a decent zacta with the no. 1, but I ain't in a wheeling and dealing mode the way things have been going lately.

That's as far as I got so far. Spent a lot of time with these, HOPE it pays off.

Good Morning Jimmy,

...... the thing to do when you come up with exactly 2 picks AT PHILLY is to wheel one top/bot in zactas and play the other straight (Win,only or Win/Place or across the board). I also wrote to keep the bets small cause IF ya can cap em .. you'll win and IF ya can't cap em at least you'll know it and you won't lose much.

Nice hit on the W/P on the 2 horses.

With your experiences with finding 2 live horses in a particular race, it would seem that wheeling both selections top/bottom would warrant this play versus a WP investment. I know it is prudent to try to minimize exposing your bankroll but with your extraordinary handicapping abilities at this track, it may be feasible. Sally forth with what you do best. Just my penny thoughts.

Thanks for the idea, Hamster. I'll have to check your idea out. I think you /me might have to put the ODDS of each into the equation. Your idea woulda paid off yesterday that's for sure. Would it have EVER!

Maybe it depends on the size of the field ... Hmm, that looks interesting.

Looks like nuthin ground shaking happened so far today. Too bad about the scratch in the 4th cause the no. 4 woulda been substituted for the scratched no. 3. Still, no big deal.

Too bad my extaordinary capping abilities are getting extraordinarily BAD lately :(

Gotta do something about that.

So far we're just treading water today. Beats :s1:

IF I see a "LOOKER" I'll let ya know. Appreciate your feedback, Hammy.

While I was blah, blah, blahing... the 6th race went off. Good to see I was right on about the also eligibles cause it was the no. 12 that I really feared and they did bet down that no. 2 hoss and it failed.
Didn't play a thing in that race.

Maybe some of the "magic" is coming back and I can put my dancing shoes back on afterall :11jackson

Looks like the "LUCK" is coming back too. . played those exactas I listed with the "Lover". Only 2 stinkin dollar variety, but Philly's generosity ($70+ with the 6 to 5 "Lover" ON TOP) is always appreciated in this corner.

The "Magic" IS BACK, Hammy. See them MAGIC nos. on the board.. 1-3-6 (boxed)? OH YEEah.

Did I play it... HELL NO! I had 2 STINKIN dollars W/PL on the no. 4. :s2:

That "Speight" hoss in this 9th race has been berry, berry good to me in the past. I'm gonna let him run without me today cause I gotta work on the finale. Them last waces have been paying big time lately. Maybe Philly phigures that big last race payoff will result in folks using it as a starting bankroll for the casino. LOL

I'll take their invitation but skip the casino part.

9th race is a NO PLAY today though, MJers. BTW, that Tony Black (jock on Speight) can't make up his mind about retiring.. the Bret FARB of hoss wacing.

Oh well

Oh well

Ya know, that Lucy hoss in the 9th woulda been a real value play at the odds she went off at (6-1). Those were very unexpected odds , VERY generous. Well, maybe my efforts for the finale which I worked on instead will payoff.

Here's the contender according to my figs.for the 10th. Mixem, matchem, or just go home a wiener today.

top picks: 4,9
others: 1,10, 11

some nice odds in there. G.L.

Great, TM. Yeah, he's a good one. Take a look at playing zactas on paper at this track.

Hmm... I coulda swore I wrote answers to jtc and Taxman ?? Well, it went something like this...

jtc: sure wish YOU woulda dabbled with today's picks to help make up for the the LOSAHS I've posted recently.

TM: I guess you'll be back to visit us. GOOD. I'll see if I can find another chair forya from the closet; I'm pretty sure we got one in there and now we can use the whole 5 of them that we got in this place.

What a sendoff today gotta add "the LAST wace of the day" to my LUCKY list. So, right now it's (1) Tue$days and (2) last wace.

Do come back for the finale post for this thread cause a CELEBRATION is in order TODAY, that is. Still, ONE great day among some TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE days doesn't mean a thing. However I do believe that OVER THE LONG HAUL we have a decent chance to make it happen at this wace twack.

Turn on the speakers for the last post cause we's gonna party a little.

Whahooo

Whahooo

Just like the good ole days...

Nailed the whole (2 stinkin bucks) by using just the nos. I posted with that no. 11 hoss in the finale. AND the 5 stinkin bucks to Win/Place on the 11 (did the same with the no. 9) was just icing on the cake.

Enjoy the tune and lets Boogie tonight :fit01:
