This thread is a perfect example of what happened to this forum. A microcosm of what's happening in society. And legitimate news outlets are not the same as Russian propaganda targeting our poor and uneducated citizens to manipulate them.

Got to love the GOP budget figures

The Republican Party hasn?t governed as if it cares about government spending or budget deficits in over 80 years. What is surprising about President Donald Trump?s latest proposal to run a $900 billion-plus annual deficit into 2022 isn?t the red ink itself, but the blunt acknowledgement of it in his official budget plan.

Sure, Republicans screamed from the rooftops that President Barack Obama?s stimulus package and health care reforms would bankrupt the nation. And yes, some excessively credulous Washington journalists presented the dire warnings about federal debt and deficits from then-House Budget Committee chair Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as serious policy ideas. But the crisis never materialized, and nobody familiar with the way Republicans have governed historically took Ryan ― who had voted dutifully for George W. Bush?s spending and deficits ― at his word.

The truth is, nobody in Washington who actually exercises power cares about the deficit. Leaders of both parties understand it as a rhetorical tool ― an ostensibly objective number that can be deployed to help resolve a genuine divide over values. When House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) talked about immigration reform during the Obama years, they sometimes pointed to the impact on government resources: A path to citizenship for the undocumented would lead to more people paying income taxes, which would reduce the deficit. More frequently, Ryan would fret that the country was on the verge of a ?debt crisis? if it didn?t immediately cut Medicaid and Medicare.

In both cases, the central question ― should our society treat its people with basic human decency? ― was sidestepped in favor of a question about whether we could afford to treat people with basic human decency, or afford not to. This was a silly exercise for leaders of the richest country in the history of rich countries to engage in, but it has become a standard Washington ritual.

Did the Russians post fake news on Facebook? Did millions of Americans believe it?

Are you really arguing this? Hedge posted this type of shit all the time. People that want stuff to be true were quick to spread this kind of garbage. Are you in favor of this crap, or are you embarrassed because you are one of the suckers?

The media has been under attack for years because the truth is the last thing our politicians want disclosed. The public is being manipulated. 24 hour news pundits are confused with actual reporters, actual news outlets are confused with partisan propaganda websites. If NBC News makes an error in reporting, it's blown out of proportion and used as the reason not to trust them. These happen a handful of times and the stories are retracted. The ones raising the stink aren't interested in the truth so they never retract or fix anything, but they bring up the handful of examples of the MSM over and over. They're very smart because people are gullible and they truly are more interested in having their preconceptions and passions matter more than verifiable facts. It's a sad time.

Dude your head is so far in the sand. Hard to believe.

I know, right?

Which conspiracy theory are you chasing? Deep state, FBI text messages, Uranium One, Warner texts, Susan Rice emails, Podesta emails, democratic Trump assassination plot?

That's what the non-MSM is reporting on....you know, the outlets you trust.

I don't now why CNN pulled out this non-story today. The only thing Gates can "make a deal about" is MANAFORT, not Trump. Most likely, Gates will claim to know something about MANAFORT and tax evasion, but even that is sketchy. Mueller is pushing for this deal using the federal govt hamfist, as with Flynn, of bankrupting Gates with all the never-ending swamp of taxpayer money funding the govt., and he has to hurry because Manafort is suing the govt and Mueller's investigation.

errors in article
1. Gates was Manafort's associate and not a "top Trump campaign advisor" - that's BS
2. "anonymous sources" the only kind liberal rags ever have
3. this plea deal has been going on for a MONTH, hardly breaking or exclusive news
4. if Gates has competent counsel, everyone now knows the whole investigation into Trump/Russia collusion is based on the now known to be faulty FISA warrant and fruit of the poisonous tree, and he would be a FOOL to take a bad deal now until the IG report comes out in about a month - so his deal is related to something other than his time with Manafort at the Trump campaign, which is what was said all along, some acts BEFORE Trump ever ran for President
5. Here is a pdf of the charges in the matter of Gates - none of this has anything to do with Trump or Russia: https://www.justice.gov/file/1007271/download

Why do Liberals allow their masters in the MSM yank their chains like this when information is so readily available from more honest sources all over the internet?

CNN

(CNN) Former Trump campaign adviser Rick Gates is finalizing a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller's office, indicating he's poised to cooperate in the investigation, according to sources familiar with the case. Gates has already spoken to Mueller's team about his case and has been in plea negotiations for about a month. He's had what criminal lawyers call a "Queen for a Day" interview, in which a defendant answers any questions from the prosecutors' team, including about his own case and other potential criminal activity he witnessed. ..."

If you take pride in being a moron, you ought to at least know how to spell it.

In fact, you might also know what it is that you are proud of:

nouninformal

a stupid person.
synonyms: fool, idiot, ass, blockhead, dunce, dolt, ignoramus, imbecile, cretin, dullard, simpleton, clod; More
