On the course!
Are their life expectancies longer than in the US?

You tell me. Dad is 47 and looks 60. Mom 37 and looks 50. 18 year old kid looks like he's 50!

We as a country eat fast foods, sugar, lots of fat and have many illnesses, heart issues, diabetic issues....etc etc ...........the reason we live longer is because we take lots of meds. We cover up our over weight sick fat ass people with medication.

Well SOMETHING is working though. If the goal is to live longer anyway.

Let's see how it worked for my father. He started with HBP, so he took med's for that. Then heart issues and more med's, followed by 2 or 3 heart attacks, then he was diagnosed as a diabetic, more pills and insulin, then he needed 2 or 3 stints put in, then another heart attack where he was in and out of the hospital for 9 months where Blue Cross paid almost a million dollars for his care. Then heart valve replacement followed by his death in 2000. All along from day one he took numerous med's. The doctors really didn't discuss lifestyle and diet change much..................so, take a pill I guess?

So we both agree that healthy lifestyle is better than more meds right?

I'm guessing that life expectancy has a lot more to do with infant mortality rates than the diet that people in those countries are eating. For example, in the U.S. the infant mortality rate is 6/1,000 live births, as opposed to countries like Somalia (103.72/1,000) or Ethiopia (75.29/1,000). This greatly skews the "life expectancy".

The United Nations estimates that approximately 18,000 children die from starvation everyday worldwide, and that also greatly skews the life expectancy in poor countries. Maybe if we didn't eat like such hogs here, then other people could live longer.

Who really wants to argue that the processed crap Americans are eating is healthier than whole foods? It might be easier, tastier, and more convenient for you, but no way can you argue it is healthier.
