What is with all the cheating at the Olympics?

Badminton had eight women disqualified, the judge obviously cheated in the boxing match Kick was talking about, the Brits team cycling the guy crashes on purpose because of a poor start, and gets a restart. WTF?

China, you expect it from, they and North Korea have been cheating for years as has the Russians but cycling and badminton?? This shit is ridiculous.

Get this, the cyclist even admitted he did it on purpose!! So why aren't they thrown out and suffer the same fate as the badminton players.

If you think that cheating is okay just because you found a way to abuse the rules than that is on you. I have a bit more integrity when I compete in anything.

I didn't tee up a single shot in the fairway this year. Last year I teed it up because I couldn't hit it otherwise and had recently had hand surgery so had I hit the shot fat, it would have hurt like hell. Besides, that isn't the Olympics. That was a friendly game of golf amongst friends.

SI had an article many, many years ago and they did a survey of olympic athletes and asked, if they could win gold with a substance that no one could trace but would kill them very prematurely, would they do it....and a very high % said yes. I'd love to see it again, but it may have been 10+ years ago-

I don't know exactly what happened with the badmitton stuff so correct me if I'm wrong. I thought both teams were trying to lose on purpose so they could face a much easier team in the next round to eventually advance to gold...

If the Packers play the Giants and the winner goes on to the NFL playoffs while the loser goes on to the high school playoffs....and the Super Bowl is the winner of "high school playoffs" vs "NFL playoffs".....what the fuck would you do?

Bad rules are meant to take advantage of. Think about "4 Corners" and Valvano fouling every team in his "miracle" run to the title.

Look at the Packers when they let the Broncos score to preserve time at the end of the game. Technically they "threw the game" or at least didn't compete at the end....its called strategy.

Sucks that it came down to that in badmitton but both teams had to try and take advantage of a horrible situation. They should have just let it play out and see who could actually successfully lose the game.

Simply because a poorly worded rule can be interpreted to your advantage where you can purposely fix a game and lose it on purpose thus providing you a favorable seeding is never acceptable to me. They were not "trying to win the Gold" at all. They were trying to win a bronze or silver because if they thought they could win the gold then there would be nobody to avoid. They should be able to beat everyone to win the gold not just beat up on two weak teams and accept your fate in the medal game.

for these many of these countries the Olympics is a representation of their culture/economic success and they will stop at nothing. To them it is a propaganda advertisement not a competition. i read some where that N. Korean athletes are sent to labor camps if they lose against rival countries or western "evil" powers.

They got disqualified, they broke the rules of competitive play, which is in the rules. The difference in the NFL and the Olympics is one is a tournament the other is a regular season with a post season. So the answer is quite simple and that is make all the badminton games count. I am glad they got sent home and since two of the three countries expressed remorse and disgust with the actions of their athletes and coaches, I would guess that they weren't happy with their country's representative athletes getting booed and ultimately thrown out. If you watch it, it really is disgraceful. That is my opinion and I like the rule of fair play.
