Played soccer with and against Tim Howard. Unless you are a soccer fan you probably won't be familiar. He was starting goalie for Man U and now starts for Everton in the premier. We drove him to practice all the time because his mom was a single-mother.

My uncle played for the celtics. Still has his contract framed. He was named All-American in college in 1958 with Oscar Robinson, Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor. He broke is ankle his rookie year in the NBA, medicine isn't what it is now and it ended his career. Now he's just fat and out of shape :) If not for that he probably would have been a very good NBA player, considering his company on the All-American list. Here's a blurb about him:

My grandfather was a offered a contract to play professional football for the Buffalo Bison in 1930. He turned down the offer because he was a captain on th Great Lakes.. More money in shipping at that time. I have the contract framed.

I once played Pete Maravich a game of HORSE and beat him H-O-R-S-E to H-O.

Afterwards, he shook my hand and asked me for my autograph.

Somewhere in Corn Country
I ran track against Tim Dwight in the 4x200m relay, needless to say we go smoked.

College or High School?

Lived in Iowa City when Dwight was at City High and then with the Hawkeyes. Recall he won the 60 meter indoor Big-10 title one year...fastest white guy I've ever seen...
Dude was/still is(??) HUGE above the waist; I ran into him in a weight room one summer in Iowa City and its hard to believe there are too many guys anywhere as strong as he is pound-for-pound.

doesnt tony granato's sister play hockey too?

Yep she used to play goal for us all the time in the backyard rinks and such around the neighborhood and they would always flood a couple of rinks on area parks back then. Many of those parks are gone or defunct some still remain like Beverly and Kennedy but for the most part they don't build the rink anymore everyone has to go to SW Ice arena. She was good back then but a few years younger than us and she eventually went on to become one of the most decorated and accomplished tenders in womens hockey history really. A couple of guys wanted to hit it but I think she was less interested in them then hockey.

Granato was a CENTER.... not saying she didn't play goalie when she was a little kid...but she was certainly not one of "the most accomplished and decorated tenders in women's hockey history."

Played against Ron Dayne in highschool, dude was the SAME SIZE then as he was in the Pros and college.

Also played against Gary Brackett...wasnt even the best LB on his team in Highschool or player, but stayed the course and has made himself a good name...we actually won the championship game 32-6:00hour

Players known.....

Kevin Ross- KC Chiefs,Atlanta Falcons,San Diego Chargers DB

Willie "Flipper" Anderson- St. Louis Rams, Colts WR(Actually involved and have children with his cousin)

Todd McNair- Oilers,Chiefs RB

Bryant McKinny- Minnesota Vikings LT (current)
This guy---played in the band in highschool and then played football his senior year....size does wonders for a guy, especially when they also have good feet

the four guys known--all are from the area in S. Jersey and within a 15 miles radius...there are a few others but I personally dont know them. Imagine all kinds of talent in S.Jersey and the Temple Owls are terrible years in and out:142smilie

Look out for Gerald Hodges Jr. currently playing in highschool where I went to highschool at and this guy is a freak...4.3 speed like 6'2 or 3" and about 265 pds or so....he has recently re thought his moves and was planning on attending Rutgers(theres a few guys around this area who pledged to one another to go to Rutgers and try to get to a Nationally noticed team)--he since has decided he'd be better off attending Penn State and has been offered scholarships to alot of major colleges.....great student and he should be playing the strong safety position for them sooner or later

She certainly played tender for us because nooone else would and she was the only one that fit in the gear. Like I stated in the first post, Tony only hung around for a short time as compared. Can't say that I know the man that well and certainly wouldn't ask him for any favors but she is a fine tender as far as I remember. Was fearless and it was a long time ago. Other than that I got nothing. I know she was Captain of the Women's Hockey team but after that I didn't put much thought into it. We aren't close.  didn't know if those were required or just a natural part of the post so I added them just in case

he actually quit acting himself. he's a firefighter in hollywood now. he hated acting and the scene. we used to make fun of him when we played indoor whiffelball and stuff at gym class on rainy days. we'd say lines from the movie and he'd get SO MAD  ... he really didn't like being known as the actor. it was weird being in 9th grade and seeing a classmate on the covers of teen! and "teen bop" magazines. he got more ass than a toilet seat though, and probably still does. chicks love that guy.

From the chick side -

Natalie Wililams (Olympic gold medalist, all-everything in baskeball and volleyball), WNBA

Playing against her in every sport in high school. She dominated because she was so much bigger and stronger.

Had a great jump serve in volleyball, even in high school.

I will say I SHUT HER ASS DOWN when we did a box and one in basketball. Held her to 6 points.

She's actually a really nice person... too bad she had such a complete loser for a dad.
