Rob Bironas was my little brother in our fraternity until he got X'ed at Auburn...

Payton Manning is a very down to earth guy and we had a couple beers in 97 in NOLA.

The Florida State kicker Grownakoski was best friends with a friend of mine in BHM, and we raised considerable hell back in 2000...

i got in a bar fight with John rocker at East Andrew in 2000?.. I'm 230 6'4 and he still dwarfed my ass... He called me an asshole... John Rocker called me an asshole! :mj07:

Andrew Jones is best buds with a close gf of mine and would always go out with us. That cat was cool,,, We called him smiley... and he was a good guy... Stayed out all night 3 years ago before opening day, and had a shi&ty opening day... man the years fly by, that was before Tampa so 3-4 years...

Charles Barkley, Andre Bruce, Bo Jackson, scores of Auburn players from working in Media Relations for 3 years...

I started as defensivetackle for three years at university of pennsylvania,1972,73,74(with no frosh eligiibility),made all league twice and was a free agent with the NY Giants but didn't make the team.I played against Mark Van Eeghan three times(RB Raiders,Colgate),Dick Jauron once(rb Yale, safety cinn and detr),Gary Fencik played wideout at Yale before being switched to safety by the bears.Actually met him in Penns weight room before my tryout with the Giants and before his senoir year at Yale, talked for an hour.Neat guy.Played against Pat Mc Inally three times, wideout Harvard and all pro punter with cinn(always second to Ray Guy). The bengals tried Mc Inally as a wr but soon nicknamed him "the candle" as in one blow and he's out.played against Reggie Williams(LB Bengals) Dartmouth teams for two years but we were both defense.Dan Jigetts from harvard played some pro o tackle for the bears but we never faced each other as we were both right tackles.Missed Ed Marinaro by a year, was a freshman when he played his last game against Penn at Franklin field.Jaurons Yale team came to Penn ranked 17th in the AP poll that week, averaging 500 yds a game rushing the wishbone. We were beating them 41-0 after 3 quarters, they had 71 yds on the ground and 3 ints, our coach then emptied the bench, they kept their first team in and went for two after each score and closed it to 48-30 by games end. They fumbled for 5 yard losses the first two carries of the game and that set the tone.I knocked their qb out on one play and sacked his replacement on the very next one,and I get to remember it each Sunday I see his face coaching the Bills.

College or High School?

Lived in Iowa City when Dwight was at City High and then with the Hawkeyes. Recall he won the 60 meter indoor Big-10 title one year...fastest white guy I've ever seen...
Dude was/still is(??) HUGE above the waist; I ran into him in a weight room one summer in Iowa City and its hard to believe there are too many guys anywhere as strong as he is pound-for-pound.

In college, I ran at WIU and we went to Iowa for a meet. And yes he was very fast.

The best athlete I ran against that nobody's ever heard of is Obea Moore. He was a legend in track and field but never amounted to shit. Almost made the USA 4x400m relay as a junior in HS in '96. Then he didn't pass the SAT or something and was never heard of again. Still a legend in track circles.

Played with and against Kerry Kittles in AAU and HS basketball

Played for Jesuit in New Orleans and graduated the same year as Kerry - he went to St Augustine HS and they were in our district, so played against him many times

Also played on an AAU type team with him after our Freshman year - won a local tourney and then got taken out of the national tourney when I missed 4 straight 3's in the 4th quarter

Always was and still is a very nice guy - too bad injuries derailed his pro career

The collins twins were in our league in HS basketball (harvard-westlake in n.hollywood)... I didn't play bball but I would watch adn those dudes were 7 ft tall in HS and would just dominate.

How was your time at WIU?

I have a friend whose son is thinking of attending school there starting in the fall of '09...

I have a couple of clients in Macomb so I've spent a little time there. Looks like a pretty cool campus; decent football team with Hayden Fry's old assistant Don Patterson as HC...

I remember how dominant Obea Moore was.
I was a distance runner in the Houston area. We had to run against Brad and Brent Hauser from Kingwood. They ended up going to Stanford. I think Brad was a little better, ran Olympic trials in 2000. Not sure what happened, burnt out or something.

Played high school basketball against Gabe Muneoke (sp). Think he changed his name after college, (Univ of TX). Played a couple years in NBA. nothing crazy.

Jenny Adams (Olympic hurdler in 2000) was a friend of mine. Ran at Univ of Houston, was like one of the top hottest Olympic chicks or something, too. Really cool girl, still training and coaching in L.A.

The coolest discussion I had at University of Houston was with Hakeem Olajuwon. Of all things we talked about, religion..He was a devout Muslim. Very genuine, nice guy.

I loved it when I was there, I haven't been back since I graduated, '97, but I know they have made a lot of changes since I left and a few friends that have gone back said the campus is improved.

My wife wants to go back there so who knows maybe some day we'll go back and check it out.

"Raced" (even though I was in the lane next to him doesn't mean it was much of a race) Michael Phelps well before he was a household name. I was in college and he was still a teenager at the time. Even thought it was a 200 backstroke, race was over by the 20 meter mark.

Saint -- you must have raced a handful of Olympians in your day.
