Actually, my carrier is going up.........this county and Cook in IL are 1/2 for rates in the state. For ER, I pay (roughly) 33% of my gross salary for malpractice. This is a six-figure number. I know what I signed on for....occupational hazard, as it were.......but IL "caps" have actually been withdrawn (currently) thanks to the IL Supremes deeming them "unconstitutional."

We never got to finish in that other thread! I don't want to start it up again, but that article you posted was from MI law review, and the stats didn't come from the corporate rags put out by AMA; NEMJ not that fabulous either. Just playing with you on the personal stuff........last time I got pissed at you, it was really the Sponge getting under my skin. Hell, if I snap, cash in the savings and go nuts on the road, you can be my Laszlo! I'm on the record that "tort reform" isn't the magic bullet, just a factor. We all have to give a little in that arena.

I'm actually a Democrat. Even have a bleeding heart at times. Romney is ball-licker:nono:

I'll still be comin' after you, but I promise it will only be when my hipocrisy warning system goes off:SIB

Don't apply your admission that you practice some form of racism on me or "most Americans". I know many people who unconsciously would not say lynching when refering to Tiger. Although spending a lot of time here in Cincitucky, sometimes I need a reminder that the diversity and the cosmopolitan nature of either coast supports my position that primarily the south and secondarily the midwest has strong undercurrent of racism.

In my practice I deal with all races, religions. I do not judge the person by their race, religion, gender, nationality (other than the Irish), or sexual orientation. Only if the potential defendant has a deep pocket.

You couldn't be more wrong about my views on Sharpton and/or Jackson. They are both racist. Sharpton's injection into every scenario is intended to keep the racial issue alive (by the way, notice how white Obama tries to be).

I have no clue as to what you are talking about as far as in other areas of the country where white folk are being terrorized by black folk. Unless that is just the liberal media not reporting on all the important issues.

I can tell you Cincinnati is a very racial city. We had our riots a few years back. Again, I'm not a bleeding heart liberal hugging trees and believe that law enforcement should not be hampered but I also have a pretty good perspective on how things really work both in the courtroom and on the streets.

I don't know why you people have such a hard time admitting what every one of us knows in our heart is 100% true. I guess it means facing a part or ourselves that each of you doesn't want to admit exists. Too bad, cause thats the only way to change something. You first have to admit it exists in your heart.

Gary, I care. Just been tired and busy. As the psycho pointed out in the other forum, I read the daily garbage posted here but haven't commented much. For some reason, this topic bothered me.

By the way, have you been listening to John Edwards? Too bad he doesn't have a chance to win. That guy is telling you like it is. The only one not getting pac or lobbyist money taking on the k steet boys. Big business owns everyone else.

You supporting Romney, Huckabee or Guiliani?

Eddie

huckabee`s out...i`ll abstain before i vote huckabee or mccain.....

as far as john edwards goes,i`m waiting for him to drop out so i can get some of his haircare gear from his website on clearance.....

i need a new tourmaline blow dryer and a few bottles of shampoo...

On the course!

Could there be a more racial statement? Maybe ignorant is the word?

Obama tries to be white?? That is not correct answer. Mike Jackson has been tying. And folks are surprised to learn there is still racism? Man o man it's hell of a lot more then that. But in the orginal question here that young lady I do not believe was trying to be about race.

Not taking time to re-read the thread... has anyone here mentioned that racism does NOT exist?

If it is in reference to my statement about lynching, I merely said that in younger people the term does not always refer to a racial thing.

Obama is just being himself, if that is white to you, you need to ask yourself why ? People are not born to speak a certain way or act or think a certain way. It's all in the way we are socialized. Travel and see the world, see people and come back to America and tell me who is trying to be white. Why do some white kids act so called "black" ???? It's not about race : it's about family, education, values... Have you ever heard an African speak the queens English ??? Just because a guy is smarter than most , speaks better than most, has more money than most and went to the best schools, he is trying to act white ? ??? What are you trying to do ? ACT BLACK ??????????

Many blacks are leary of Obama. The main reason is that he won Iowa. I mean really, the f'ing state is like 97% vanilla. That made a lot of blacks suspicious as hell. South Carolina will be interesting as the wife of the first real black president will be going heads up against Obama. I'm interested in that outcome.

And as far as your trying make that "racist" comment mine, I have to admit I plagerized it from a guest Moyers had on his program this week. The guy was a black author who wrote a book on why Obama can't win. His point was Obama doesn't threaten whites whereas guys like Sharpton and Jackson who remind whites of the past, do. My point was Obama is not threating to whites (obviously if he carried Iowa) whereas the Jackson/Sharpton ilk are.

My point in acting white or black for that matter is individuals of one race can be non-threatening to the general population of the other race, ie Bill Clinton to blacks and Barack Obama to whites. I don't consider calling Bill Clinton Americas first black president a racist statment. Only your picky ass might.

Frankly, I like people of one race who appeal to the majority of another race. I don't oppose Obama, just not sold on him yet. I like those who I know where they stand. Like Edwards.

Gary:

You know, cats will marry dogs before we ever agree on anything. The only thing about Edwards that drives me crazy is his hair. He looks like a little boy. I rather see him in a fro with beard like a Hassadic jew. Remind me of my youth with a little ganja.

Doc:

For the 2nd time in 4,857 posts, I'm wrong. Surprised in a republican state like Illinois, the Supreme Court would hold caps unconsitutional. Ohio just went the other way. Maybe we should trade towns (Chicago for Cincinnati, I think I would get the better end of that trade).

Totally agree with you on Romney. Very scarry person. Reminds me of Barbie's boyfriend, Ken. The way I look at any arguments I have here with others is that its all in fun. I believe what I say and sometimes say it with emotion but hell, how can it be personal, I've never met anyone from this place. Actually, I love everyone.

When I was first defending my profession at this forum, I was the first to admit that there are frivolous lawsuits. But I also said the media, republican party, insurance industry, chamber of commerce, etc. played a role in exageratting its impact. Many here like to pick one devil. The world is easier to figure out if its black and white.

I found it was a lot easier to crucify lawyers than defend them. Sound bites fit better into forums than truth. So, it was a losing battle especially against a couple of people who continously posted links to anti-lawyer biased sources on the internet. Even when exposed, they continued to attack. Got old.

Love to meet you and have a beer sometime. Then I will sue you. The switch cities option is still open. Based on what I know about Cook County juries and what I could tell you about Hamilton County juries, we are both in the wrong places. However, I guarantee you will have nothing to do on Saturday nights.

Only one correction on Illinois.........its a WHOLE bunch of red if you look at the way things fall county by county, but Cook is huge, and as long there is a Daley drawing breath, it is a blue state. Richie has got this governor (probably Barry as well:shrug: ) in his ample pants, and though the gov can be a charming fella with great hair, a puppet is a puppet.

Still and all......the debate gets elevated with you around. Win or lose not theissue; I have to come strong, or I shall be pounded (that goes for alot of people here, btw) in a fashion that makes me think and giggle. Keep it comin'.......doc

PS.......I have been in football mode all weekend, so this current debate between Hill/Bill and Barry over who had more to do with civil rights back in the friggin' '60's is news for me. Seems like some dangerous ground for Team Clinton to be walking on. I know 'bout Big Willie being a "black" president and all, but seriously, you're white and the guy you're saying is being silly about who had more to do with the movement is a civil rights attorney who happens to be black. If this is political savvy, then the whole concept just escapes me.

thoughts???

on a slightly diff slant--
Isn't watching this race tizzy between Obama and the Clinton clan getting entertaining--

What about the black head of BET networks comments on Obama--can you imagine if someone white made that remark.

I could give Hilliary a sure fire way(I guarantee it) to win primary-but would rather have Obama win and give it to the Rebs :)

The white power of this country. Not Bush Or Clinton will decide how far Obama gets. Does anyone here believe this country is going to let a black be Prez. You have all kinds of guys like Dick Morris spewing hate. He once said he get even with Clinton's. He twist the Obama story for Fox every day they ask him. He's a white piece of shit. And theres ton more just like him. They used cute names like swift boats.
