hmmm... I'll try to see if I can figure out a dietary trigger. Thanks for the suggestion.

Table salt ,:nono: ..... the kind that says Iodized on the box , use it the next time you eat anything , apply the salt a little bit heavy and check the results .If the ringing becomes more severe then you know that you have a problem with salt . Everything you eat has too much salt , don't you think .
I have a constant ringing of the ears but if I eat anything that has table salt which contains sodium and chloride then you can multiply the ringing by 5... xxxxx

you might have stumbled onto something there,h.t....i wonder if it`s possible to wash off some of the salt in a strainer prior to chowing down?...i wish i could find turkish unsalted....

i get mine from turkey through zenobia in new york..so much better than the california garbage...the iranian pistachios are suupposed to be best, but that ain`t happening anytime soon...

..they`ve become expensive as hell,though...just ordered 2 /5 lb bags...over $100

sorry to hear about the heart issues...glad you`re doing well...

On a somewhat related note, my hearing has been getting progressively worse the past few years, and it's really been bothering me of late. I miss out on quite a bit, and I think it's time to get something done about it. I don't WANT to wear hearing aids, but I do want to hear moving forward.

Anyone know if hearing aids are covered by insurance (generally speaking)? I haven't checked, just wondering. What does a good set of hearing aids cost these days, preferably nice, smaller, unobtrusive ones?

I don't notice it, but when I do think about it, I have ringing in my ears. It's probably a lot worse than I think it is, just live with it these days. Too many nights DJ'ing in the bar, for sure... back in the day.

Go to a reputable audiolgist in your area or go to a dealer that someone you know has been to and is completely satisfied. Usually, but not always, stay the hell away from Miracle Ear and Beltone.

The size hearing aid you can use depends on your hearing loss. The CIC's went for about $2000 each when I was in the biz but that was 8 years ago, I'm sure a lot has changed since.

Here's a pic of the different models and what they look like in your ear.

I was in the business for 16 years if you have questions, you can just shoot me an email.

Chad: Hearing aids rarily covered under insurance--not even Medicare.

Clint: Bummer on the ear--maybe it will go as quickly as it came. Wonder if it and your back could be connected?

Very rare. The only ones I know about that had insurance for HA's were coal miners and railroad and they usually paid for very basic amplifiers ~ $800 for a pair.

Thanks a lot, guys. Maybe I'll just keep saying "huh" until my wife can't stand it anymore. $2K is plenty of money, but I will check into it.
