I think I'm the first woman to chime in here and it's interesting to see how many of you expressed concern over others' feelings, particularly women, by encouraging that the filter be kept.

I didn't know until I read this that there was a filter on the language. I thought that everyone was being considerate of other peoples' potential concerns over the use of the word. Seeing the contrived variants used to get around the filter was, I thought, a way to convey the emotions intended without meaning offense.

Now that that bubble has been burst and my faith has been restored in humanity I'll express my feelings.

I use the word in conversation but try to always be considerate of my "audience". At home I use many different words to express my opinions but I don't use the same language at my clinic. I don't use the same language with my friends as I do with my parents. Somehow, to me, seeing it in the written form is more offensive than hearing it. I guess I feel that this is a community and as such it deserves to be respected by all it's members. I don't believe that, simply because this is a gambling forum, it's a refuge for dereliction of courtesy. Maintaining a filter does reduce problems because there are always the

's who lack the skill to write anything without it and persist in trying to degrade things for the rest of us.

As far as the "c" word ... don't even get me going on how wrong that is! It is reserved for the lowest of the low and I can't see how anything on a message board could be enhanced by it's use.

P.S. Can you believe that there are people out there in Cyberland who are offended by the use of smilies?!?!?!?

I use the F word, try to watch when, Golf Course..it's a F BOM Fest. I use the other words mentioned. Some women are B's, they will tell you they are, For a Woman to move up to the C word, they really, really have to work at.

I do watch where I speak, have too. See you the F later

Not really offended by it, unless it is used by someone in excess or for no reason. In the right context, I go with the flow. I don't necessarily like to hear it from a woman, I dislike a foul mouthed babe.

I'm assuming you mean "in public" and not when having those same words whispered in your ear in the throes of passion. :scared

I always cringe when I hear that word around women. guess i am old fashion but that word is for the golf course and the locker room.

My father is 86 years old and I never have heard him say it so that is good enough for me.

keep it censored

If anyone really wants to know the origin of the word F U C K , here it is.

As i would think that a majority of people, would put this word to an association of sex. well that is not to far off.

F U C K was derived from a law of the land many moons ago.

The law of the land was that no one that was not deemed royalty needed to get permission from the King in order to have sex.

Hence the saying Fornication Under the Consent of the King. so they would WHISPER it if they are u going to ****. They had to whisper it so that the Nobel ones would not get wind of it. thats why it was deemed a bad word, they needed to whisper so that no one would hear.

I'm an ex-marine, so for me it is just another word in my vocabulary...but I'd say keep it censored for the sensitive types.

it offends me if it's said around my children. I'd rather not hear it a lot in person, but if I do, I consider the source, and if it's among adults, so be it. I have told/made people pipe down before however that were mouthing foul language near my kids. On the internet, I don't really care.

Sidenote, I will kiss some admin a$$ now and say this is the best forum of all time when it comes to NOT censoring threads. Threads either get locked or go to the dumpster, but they are NEVER deleted. Every other forum I go to if there is some sort of discord or something controversial or if a mod gets their feelings hurt, the whole thread gets deleted. I think that's bs, and I think what's done here is perfect in that regard.

Yeh, I guess you're right, VA ! Like I mentioned, context means alot, so let's group this under the acceptable context category. It's nice that you mentioned whispered, also.

I agree w/ those who mention that it's a matter of context.

I personally don't swear much, but sometimes it is the perfect expression.
