Rickey Henderson. In person Roberto Clemente. Bonds ruin his chances by being on the juice. Warren Spahn over Koufax due to his longevity. Bob Gibson as a righty...One thing which is always left out when arguing about pre Jackie Robinson days and even up to the 60's is the size of the gloves. Not many .350 to .400 hitters if they had today's "baskets" and a couple HR's would go away......Stan Musial and Frank Robinson are 2 who never got their due. Musial probably better complete player than Williams or DiMaggio

the world has not seen a better 5 tool player than Mays .. I watched Willie through the chain link fence at Candlestick
50 cent and a coupon cutout from a milkcarton

with all due respect to Roberto..he never had the pop in his bat that Willie possessed.

if ya fielded a team of anybody ya want and didn't put Rickey Henderson at leadoff ..

well ..ya probably shouldn't bother figuring out the rest of the lineup.

Would've loved to seen Luis Aparicio and the nutball who played for the Detroit Tigers (wasn't Kaline).

Gates Brown or Willie Horton?

My take is Clemente or Barry Bonds. Yeah the fucker did roids until the cows came home but man was he good.

If your list does not contain the name Clemente it's because you aren't old enough to have seen him play or you are ignorant of baseball.

Wow, pretty strong homer OPINION!!!! And, you call us all IGNORANT????? Most know him as awesome, but we are not ignorant because we don't agree with you.

:sadwave:

Weasel, great validation on Henderson. Very valid, but lasted too long. Koufax per my Dad, Musial per my Grandfather, and Willie Mays and Pete Rose per my eyes.

If reading comprehension was an ability you possessed at all you would see my post said your LIST should contain Clemente, and it should. I did not say he was the best of all time.

Cabrera isn't in the top 100, yet....

He asked for BEST as the question, not LIST, for your reading comprehension abilities. We could all name a fawking list.

That I've seen.....Bonds. In an era of roids, who knows who was on what? He was unreal in this era. And let me ask, how do we know none of the so called past greats weren't doing something, like speed or something at least?

I don't care what he asked for. I guess I'm the first person to take a thread in a slightly different direction, see if Jack will give me a red card for the.

You misunderstood what I said and that's that, admit it for a change.

Jr,

Agree with your point overall but Speed just helps you stay awake. No comparison to roids. That said, Bonds could play in any era and was great before to took the shit. Biggest thing roids did for Bonds and Clemons was prolong their careers. Both will have a rotten stink hanging over them for that reason.

I caught Tom Seaver twice. Once when he was with the White Sox and once while he was a Red Sox. Does that count? He bruised my left hand and I was wearing a mitt. Even at age 41, he was still bringing it. If he had pitched for any other team besides the Mets early on, his numbers would have been even more insane.....

I would say out of guys that I saw Mantle would be the greatest. For one year, I would say Yastrzemski in '67.
