it doesnt matter why the guy took his phone out of his pocket, regardless if he read something on it or not, the rule is in place and had been implemented already several times in the tournament, the hand should have been dead.

then why wasn't it? because he wasn't "USING" it, that's why.

like i said, good arguments on both sides.

you can't change anything now so, if i was harrah's, i'd give him his 10k back and not change the prize pool. it's ALL harrah's fault for letting it get this far. right?

nothing can be changed now. nothing.

question from a poker "CLUELESS" person, but what exactly does a 'dead' hand mean/do? if it means everyone goes back to the chip count that they started the hand with, it seems like a flawed rule in the first place. :(

here's the rule

here's the rule

Any player on the cell phone or texting a messaging when the dealer delivers the first card from the deck will have a dead hand. No cell phones can be placed on a poker table.

the guy didn't break the rule!

not to mention, he doesn't speaka engrish!

Seems pretty bad all the way around. The guy is angling, but it does seem the rule is broken, and all of the "video" etc. is trying to justify not enforcing the rule. Then the guy tells the dealer and surely it does give away he doesnt want a call - ahead or not.

At the end of the day this is Harrah's problem imo. If cell phones are a problem players shouldnt be allowed to have them at all or they must bel turned off. Your phone rings you are DQd. Real simple.

So I say angle or not they needed to let him back in.

Personally I think he should he get his $10k back but not be able to rebuy in, just to shut him up. They should make the rule any cell phone touched and ur hand is dead period. Obviously Singer was trying to take advantage of a situation.

Jack, sorry, that doesn't help me much :( meaning only the person that "touched" the cell phone, or the entire hand for all players? either way, does the person that voilated the rule get all chips back that they threw in the pot thus far for the hand?

guess what i'm asking is what is the result for ALL players at a table when a hand is declared dead.

NO THE CHIPS ARE GONE!!!

I've have been in a $10k Tourney where the dealer accidentally mucked the player to his left cards, which of course was all in w/kk and he hand was considered dead, and considered knocked out of a $10k tourney, which of course he had the best hand. That is why u have to protect ur cards.

Thanks CG.... that helps my opinion of the "rule" so that someone couldn't intentionally get on their cell phone to make the hand seem as if it never happened in the first place!!

how long do you think it will be before some makes a blue tooth (listening only) device that appears to be a hearing aid and they have to ban any ear devices from the tourney??? ;)
