mine too! Hate it! This is one time I wish I lived outside the city limits.
If I remember correctly, we have those bastids for about a month to 6 weeks? Their exit from here can't be soon enough. I HATE THEM!

they'll be around until they raise two different clutches of baby blackbirds. Probably at least through mid-July nesting. :nono:

Where it is real F ing COLD
It is almost a year to the date so I would say to try and figure out how to keep them out next year at this time. Must have a predator that they cant stand.. Like a big hawk or something. Get a big fake eagle or vulture and put it in the tree

Grackles are a huge problem in the Houston area and I have had good success in keeping them away by mounting a couple of owl decoys on the property.

Prowler Owl
claims to repel pigeons, crows, sparrows, starling, seagulls, GRACKLES, cormorants, vultures, small animals and rodents.
I'm telling you, try the fake owl.

I know SixFive didn't have any success with this method but I sure did.

Just sayin'. ..

Owl decoys are used locally to scare away rodents and doves. I know from experience that will keep rodents and doves off of your boat, porch, etc....

I've had a woodpecker banging away at the screen on my chimney for the last 2 years. So far there isn't any damage to the roof or chimney but getting tired of it.

Well fawk me!!!! A freaking black bird, which I have seen trying to enter a dryer vent in the side of my house, has now found his way into the wall cavity between the hall bath and utility room. He is stuck, so I can hear him struggling, scratching and clawing in the wall. Chirping most of the fawking night.

How am I supposed to get this bird out of my wall cavity? Is it going to die there and smell up the house? Fawk, fawk, fawk!!!!!!

The bird has been driving me crazy making bird sounds and scratching around in the wall cavity since yesterday at this time. I may have to open the wall. The crazy part is the bird is not in an exterior wall. The rooms in question both run along an exterior wall, but the cavity the bird is in runs perpendicular to the exterior wall.

Cie, hopefully somebody will have a suggestion for you that works. I can't imagine what, other than taking the wall down. Or, just let it die, it'll only stink for a couple weeks :SIB

Cie,

Besides the woodpecker problem that I mentioned, there is also sparrows lodging underneath the roof tiles. I handled it by calling a company that specializes in dealing with birds. They are classified as a high reach maintenance company. They will take care of the problems tomorrow morning.

That's what you should do. Good luck.

A guy is coming out here tomorrow to get the bird out, but I think the bird died a short while ago. His chirpping and scratching around became more frantic, and then began to die down about 90 minutes ago. I haven't heard him move in over an hour....

Next concern.... rotting black bird carcass in an interior wall cavity. I hope this dude can handle carcass removal, but seems unlikely as access is limited without opening the wall:(
