A guy is coming out here tomorrow to get the bird out, but I think the bird died a short while ago. His chirpping and scratching around became more frantic, and then began to die down about 90 minutes ago. I haven't heard him move in over an hour....

Next concern.... rotting black bird carcass in an interior wall cavity. I hope this dude can handle carcass removal, but seems unlikely as access is limited without opening the wall:(

Not telling you what to do Cie, but I would make sure that bird is removed no matter the damage if it were me.

I spoke with the pest removal guy this evening. He recommends removing it at any cost due to disease, odor, etc. Looks like a small opening in the utility room wall will do it.

Decoy owls work very well. In my neighborhood, the houses that dont have one , the roofs are covered with bird shit. works well for gardens also.

Because he wants the job :0074

He's certainly not going to tell you that everything is fine now. ;)

Had the same problem a couple of months ago. They were shitting all over the neighbors roofs and finally found their way to mine.

I got tired of it and shot one off the chimney with a .177. He fell in the back yard and I sicked the dog on him. He was done.

Never had anymore problems.

And, yes, I live in the city limits.

No, I agree with the guy. The bird has to be removed at all costs. In addition to what the guy said, the dead bird could also attract rodents looking for food & with young kids in the house, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Wish i lived near you bro, I would take care of that issue quickly.
Having some construction experience and of course being a redneck all my life, those seem like easy problems to solve. :142smilie

I agree though, I would get the carcass out of there.
You gotta know someone that can help.

hope it works out

After a company came out to treat my bird problem, I am happy to report that woodpecker & sparrow problem almost gone & will be totally gone in a few days....now I will be a happy man if I can only get rid of birds landing & leaving their "calling cards" on the boulders surrounding the pool.

If my wife saw a rodent in the house, she would have a heart attack on the spot whether he was seeking food or just stoppin by for a visit:mj07:

Appreciate it, dude. They opened the wall this morning and removed the carcass. The wall will be patched shortly and the unnecessary vent will also be sealed......

exactly what I was thinking (outside the construction experience). There had to be some way to solve this probably with duct tape!

Spot on, as is often the case with you. I actually used duct tape to temporarily seal the vent:D
