WTF ??? FBI Cyber Warning on PC .....

So here I get a little free time while everyone's swimming at grandmas and I pull up a porn site from the Always Prayen thread. A few minutes later this warning pops up that my puter is locked and the only way to unlock it is to pay $300 thru a "Green Dot MoneyPak" :shrug: Anyone ever heard of this before :mj08:

Had that happen about 6 months ago, called my Virus Protection company and they fixed it.

The guy said people pay it thinking it's a real Government agency.

I think they said it was from Europe.

I don't no. It looks pretty legit. :scared It says all files have been encrypted and browser is blocked. Every time I try to delete the message a "all pc data will be detained and criminal procedures will be initiated against you if fine is not paid" pops up.

I have no computer savvy . I'm lucky if I can find a site. Hope Josh pops in with some info.

4. Click Restore Earlier Time

5. Choose Restore Point Date Before Virus Problem

6. Click Run

7. It will be fixed in a few minutes

Start pressing f8 once you see the bios start up - It will say press f2 or f12 but ignore those and press f8 - don't hold it down - press it every half second


you can also choose - safe mode with networking and that will allow online access - after running "restore to an earlier point" I would suggest running malwarebytes and or combofix


if you did not have "restore" enabled - run malwarebytes "scan full pc" No need to use the trial, just say no thanks and run the free version and then run combofix

When he got up I asked him what he did and he said he turned it off :facepalm: The message from the warning specifically said :nono: not to do that. I'm still worried. Should I go ahead with your suggestions :shrug:
