Hopkins is a future Hall of Famer but he may be an even better Boxing Manager. He does not take fights he can't win. It seems Hopkins has bamboozled another unsuspecting fighter.
Calzaghe is a marvelous talent but Hopkins has him leaving his element and moving up to 175 pounds and his own promotional outfit is calling the shots.
People forget how strong Hopkins is at 175
- see the Tarver fight when he trained with Mackie Shilstone. Hopkins is taking this fight MUCH more seriously than the Winky Wright fight. :142smilie
Some interesting points that might prevent players from laying down large on Zags. A big thing your not mentioning is Hopkins age of 43. Hopkins is amazing - but Father Time is unbeatable.
175 is good for Hops , no doubt, it's his natural fighting weight- he hung at 160 for history, but how do we know 175 won't be nice for Zags who's been making 168 since his first fight in the early 90's. I can only see it helping him also and I can't ignore that Winky's prime fighting weight was 154, a whopping 14 pounds less than Zags. Your understimating Zags who is also a very smart, cerebral fighter who can fight/brawl or box or basically can adust on the fly. He tried some toe to toe with the very strong Kessler, showed a great chin and said let me just box this guy and lock the win. Golden Boy will have to steal this one as they have numerous times because Hop just won't be busy enough. Tarver was dead, and more or less quit a few rounds into the fight. Zags will never do that.
