The Stratosphere Tower Hotel is "far away from activities on the Vegas strip." It is a "great hotel for the money." Guests should make sure not to get a room by the elevator, as one guest said "it sounded like trains coming through our room all night and early in the morning." "The pool was cold!" "The room service was excellent." Guests can enjoy an "awesome view from the Top of the World restaurant." Recommended for: budget travelers.

this is what the last person who recorded their feelings about this hotel had to say...

Date Visited: 03/06 - Undecided
People know what they are getting staying at the Strat, a low rate. You are miles from anywhere and its not a great neighborhood. That being said, we had a good time. The gambling was perfect and we had a great meal at the Crazy Armadillo (64oz margaritas) Its a decent walk to the monorail station at the Sahara, but not ridiculous. Our shower head was broken and we seemed to be sharing hot water with the people next us, whom it seemed like we were staying in the same room as them because the walls were not good at stopping noise. But we were hardly in the room at all, and the bed was comfy when we needed it. The place is all right, but why not just stay at Sahara which is the same price and no worse of a place. The only thing is the Strats casino is way bigger than Sahara and you can actually find an open spot at a table game. I wasn't impressed or disappointed, you know what you are getting at the Strat.

Stratosphere = good gambling odds, shitty part of the strip sortof far down, low rates, bad neighborhood surrounds it on the outskirts. I have friends that have liked it there but I'd pass.

we want this to be a member thing and where the wifes can get to know their husband's online buds. we're not all that bad

dinner is saturday night. restaurant to be named. gourmet meal at a top rated place with drinks, SPONSORED BY BETJAMAICA with a nice surprise for all who attend.

working on another event as i type.

golf anybody?

let me know where you're staying and send your cell number, i'll do the same in my return email.

Wayne,

Don't stay at stratosphere, seriously. It's in no mans land in between the strip and downtown and your well-being is in peril if you stray 100 yards away from the property.

They have a great restaurant on the top floor that rotates (Top of the World) that has a great view of the strip and a few good 'rides'(rollercoaster, slingshot, a relatively new one that got stuck a while ago that throws you out over the edge of the hotel), but you don't want any part of that 'hotel', especially with your wife along.

It might go for like 50 a night, but there's a reason. It's horrible.

Decent low-priced options on the strip are Imperial Palace, tropicana, flamingo, harrahs....at those places you'll be in a good to great location, you'll have clean rooms and you'll be safe...unlike the friggin' stratosphere.

Thanks for info on Stratosphere--will look for other options.
What about Circus Circus?--wife might enjoy shows.

Jack Count wife and I out of Saturday meal--though much appreciated. Will probably have to leave early Sat to get wife backin time for work Sat afternoon--as the way she tells me if she misses work Sat she will have to forfeit holiday pay for 3rd and 4th--and that is not an option to thrifty Asian's :)

I'm not sure this link will work, but I'll give it a try.

I was surfing the web and found this at another message board and I thought some may find it interesting, I did.

dtb..

i've never been to circus-circus...only to the casino & that was about 10 years ago....the only thing that i remember was that there were trapeze people doing their thing above the casino....

but here is a consensus review of circus-circus from hotels.com.....

Circus Circus is an "extremely kid-friendly hotel" with a "variety of activities on site" like "the Adventure Dome and the Midway for games and entertainment for those who can't play the casino games." However, the hotel "is located at the end of Las Vegas strip" and away from other points of interest. Guests complained that the hotel "needs to desperately be updated," especially in the part of the hotel called the Manor. Many guests found the beds to be highly "uncomfortable." For "a place to stay overnight, the hotel is a bargain with clean rooms and nice and helpful staff." Recommended for: families and budget travelers.

For everyone that's going to be coming out there, Matt and Jack are staying at the Aladdin and hopefully we can maybe meet up with them for lunch at this place if they are up for it. It looks good, and cheap yummy drinks too....

jonnie- why don't you loosen up the purse strings a little and spend a little money in Sin City; first it's cheap hotels, now cheap lunch and cheap drinks. Are you going to be using match play coupons at the BJ tables, too?

Commander's Palace at Alladin is one of the best lunches in town. For those unfamiliar with New Orleans, CM is a Brennan's family restaurant which has been in operation since the late 1800's. Their Vegas restaurant is top notch and an incredible bargain.
