I've had a low-end weber for about 5 years now and love it. Cost about 100 bucks. Cook on it 2 or 3 times per week. I even use it as a smoker. The BGE weighs a frikkin ton.

I have a Big Green Egg. They are tough to use. It will take some practice. It's not like a reqular charcoal grill. But I have cooked eveything on it. Turkeys, boston butts, ribs. If you want to sear a steak that grill will get up well over 900 degrees. One thing you need to be careful about is that they have a tendency to crack because of the high heat.

thanks so far.

i want to use charcoal and have the ability to smoke as well.

i'm not crazy about having to use special charcoal that you can't buy in the corner store with the BGE. i guess i can live with that because we have a local dealer and i hear you don't need as much and it burns a lot longer.

there are sooooo many opinions out there and now i'm really confused :mj07:

Yeah its lump charcoal. A lot of grocery stores are carrying it.

the big green egg is the absolute best. I don't use it of course, but my mom makes some fantastic food with hers.

Another vote for the Big Green Egg! My brother in law has one and I would rather eat what he makes over any restaurant food. The only downfall is that it does take a bit of work/practice to grill with one.

This is one of the best summaries I have heard from a BGE owner.

There is no doubt that it allows for cooking some of the best food around.

BUT there are a few major (for a lot of people) flaws with it.

For most people, I would recommend either a large round Weber or one of the side-box deals that work well as grills and smokers.

vinnie's is interesting. I've never used the pellet ones.

Here
I love grilled food. Not sure I would spend a couple hours on a forum that revolves a specific type of grill.

That's the issue here. Nothing else.

yep tried to save the guy some time but I forgot he's a cheap ass
