I know this might be a little over your pea brain but if you paid attention they owe me about 7 times this amount !!!! If you have nothing positive to contribute here S T F U :sadwave:

You're right. My pea brain does not understand how they "owe" you about 7 times that amount. Please explain how they "owe" it to you. Maybe an attorney can help you get what you are "owed".

Did you leave out the part how the insurance company doesn't know your daughter drives because you didn't want to pay the higher premium?

I also have a hard time believing your rates went up "ALOT" because of one speeding ticket. Even if that were true (and I'm sure it is not), there are plenty of insurance companies who would have written you for probably less than you were paying but you either were too lazy, too cheap or wanted to gamble nothing would happen. Now that something did somebody else should pay and it should not be you, right?

isn't it standard that all unmarried under 25 years old are not covered unless they are added specifically? i always thought this and never allow unmarried and under 25 to drive my vehicles.

I realize you were kidding about this Jack, but you shouldn't lead folks on like this.....

If you weren't... well, I'm one that wouldn't do this. Absolutely no different than stealing a car from your neighbor or anybody else for that matter. Just because it is a "faceless" insurance company doesn't change the crime - just changes who you are doing it to.

But then again, I would never even drive a car without insurance. Screw the damage to the car - what if you hit someone and hurt them and had to pay all their medical bills? You'd be out a lot more than $15-$20K for the car.

It's no wonder people in our country have no personal responsibility anymore and just want the government to give them free food, housing, and healthcare - without even getting a job.

The concept behind this thread has really blown me away.

Mags you must consider you have 2 totally different mindsets-

You have thse that purchase insurance to protect what they have worked for their entire lives--

--then you have those that purchase it because someone forces them to do so.

I need some advice here... I recently let my car insurance lapse because they where raising my rates ALOT because my wife had a speeding ticket so i wanted to shop around for another company. Well guess what happens right after that my daughter takes the car to school and runs it into a guardrail and messes up the front end and can barely steer it now.I am thinking it will be totalled, what should i do get another insurance company and wait a month or 2 then make a claim because i still owe 4 years on it.

I really am in a mess so what should i do here???

dogg

sandog....

you had to know that you were opening yourself up to criticism by asking "what should i do here"....& then when posters gave you their opinion you got mad....don't understand that....

i personally don't care if you commit insurance fraud or not....but you don't need our opinion to do it....if you are going to do it, then do it without telling everybody beforehand....

Jack-

If you (named insured) give permission for the underage driver to drive then they would be covered in the event of a loss. You are supposed to inform your company when there is another driver who should be added so the company can charge the appropriate premium.

This is a great thread for a gambling forum.

You gambled by allowing your child to drive without insurance coverage (hmm I'll take the Congo Republic for +3000000000 to win the world cup), you lost, now pay up.

Sandog, you crapped in your hat. If you go to another company for coverage, what will you do if they ask to inspect the vehicle(s) you're wanting to insure? This isn't such an unusual request when it's a new company.

Also, be prepared to pay an even higher premium than the one you allowed to lapse. Most companies quote a much higher premium to someone who doesn't have current insurance, especially when there is a youthful driver and another who has a moving violation.

One more thing..... if you try to pull this off, what example are you setting for your daughter?

Jack, I don't know about other states but in Virginia when you purchase a family automobile policy (as opposed to a commercial/business policy), all licensed drivers in the household are automatically covered under the policy regardless of age, experience or driving record. It also covers anyone you authorize to drive your vehicle. If a youthful driver (or other household member) has an accident or incurs a ticket, the entire policy is at risk of surcharge or cancellation since a household member can't legally be excluded.

Some companies will continue the coverage if the "bad" driver obtains his/her own policy which will shoulder the major burden of their risk. They may couple this with a requirement that the policyholder provides a written statement that the offending driver will not drive any of the other vehicles. This acts more as a "promise" though because, if the excluded driver does cause a claim, they are still legally obligated to pay the claim.
