I need some advice here... I recently let my car insurance lapse because they where raising my rates ALOT because my wife had a speeding ticket so i wanted to shop around for another company. Well guess what happens right after that my daughter takes the car to school and runs it into a guardrail and messes up the front end and can barely steer it now.I am thinking it will be totalled, what should i do get another insurance company and wait a month or 2 then make a claim because i still owe 4 years on it.

I really am in a mess so what should i do here???

dogg

Is it possible that you're just LATE with your payment?

I've been on the road, but good to see nothing changes. A guy asks for a pat on the back for doing something stupid because of something stupid and then gets mad when no one agrees with his stupidity.

Really? Really?

More interesting is the next question...

You didn't have car insurance on your 16 year old?

Really? Really?

Let's start there before going any further...

The quote above makes this whole thread worthwhile - one of the best, and funniest, statements I've seen in a long while....

Sandog:

I hope you are starting to think differently of the scheme you mentioned when you opened this thread - not too many of us, it appears, would think of rectifying this issue in the way you have mentioned.

Here is one thing you may not have (or maybe you did) think of: you didn't mention how long ago you let your coverage lapse (I thought it was weeks?)...

Most auto insurance policies have a 30 day grace period PAST the cancellation date - which means if you are within that period, I would get your payment in pronto.

From my understanding, if this is the case, then you have not suffered a legal break in coverage - your auto would be covered. If you are past the grace period, then you are plain out of luck.

I am curious, Sandog, had you been paying the increased premium for having a youthful driver in the household or had you been concealing that from the insurance company as well?

Sandog,
In the State of New York, anyone signing on with a NEW carrier that's adding comprehensive on the policy requires a photo inspection first. If your state requires the same, what you're suggesting is impossible.

If he does, it will probably be to attack me and call me a degenerate too!

I asked the question because it may be the true reason for the premium increase and not his wife's ticket.

A couple things come to mind concerning your posts, sanddog. Neither has to do with the insurance situation and I do hope you are able to avoid the lapse in coverage with the 30 day grace period as mags suggests.

You assume that gamblers have less of a code of of ethics simply because they are gamblers. The stereotype of a reckless gambler who fuels his wild wagering sprees with whiskey and hookers and fast cars to outrun their creditors or the fuzz is just that, a stereotype. (See Harvey Keitel in Bad Lieutenant). I think most gamblers are rather suave and conscientious and set out to do the right thing. Gambling -- especially gambling on sporting events -- is an activity that requires us not only to interpret the current state of the universe, but also a try at predicting what the universe has in store in the future. This undertaking is difficult enough without a big slice of bad karma biting at your ass. The universe does have a way of evening itself out over time I believe.

As far as ethics here at madjacks. You have been here a long time so you should know that most of the posters are solid when it comes to integrity, good vs. evil, and basic empathy for the fellow human beings. Look at one of the many threads over the years where a poster says, "Haha, book XYZ put up a bad line and I hammered it!" There will be more people who chastise that practice than endorse it. If my local makes a mistake on our balance I would rather point it out either way. If I let it slide it makes me feel all dirty inside. GL with your sticky situation and good luck with your wagers!

Let me see yes yes yes yes tickets.....drunk driving.....having concealed weapons......oh let me see running over a 4 year old girl on a tricycle

Look i already have more insurance with another company and NO that didnt take pics or inspect it so that would not be a problem. There is no police report or witnesses.

But thanx for the questions......but wait you couldnt resist and had to be a smart ass like KOD so why not............ you degenerate TOOL :142smilie
