On the course!
I don't think "comped rooms" should be a big issue. Plus, let's face it.......they do expect a certain amount of action for that room, and I would be willing to bet a portion of last years group was not gambling much at the tables. (Evident by the host's reaction.)

I'm happy when Jack or a sponsor throws something out there, but if you can't foot your own bill for a weekend get away, maybe it's not the best place for you to be?

I've never had to wait for a card longer than I did there - I tried, I just was too busy kickin' the casino's ass.

I liked Belterra and would go back with or without room comps, but I don't know why no one's mentioning the Beauty of the Fox Lake.

Elgin, Illinois - You GOTTA be here!!

On the course!
I know Angela and I went through at least 1000 on Roulette (Ang's favorite) and ended up winning 250 or so, but we WERE gambling and having fun....just didn't lose to them or use their card because we didn't think we'd be back...:toast:

and, if we need to pay for rooms so be it, even at a discounted rate. Fawk Belterra and their arrogance....I always saw people from our group at the casino

That's the thing! It's not arrogance on the casino's part. They give you that card so they KNOW you are playing, and to what extent! Telling people on a chat board eight months later that you played, doesn't do that casino any good. (And for the record, they don't care if you win. They just want to know what you played, and for how long/much money. THAT is what determines what "comps" you get.) If you never used the card, as far as they know, YOU DIDN'T PLAY!

I realize that most guys here who would go to these golf outings, would probably pay 100% for their bill. That's fine! But a member of the forum told HIS host that he had some players coming down there, and that host booked discounted/free rooms to these players, sight unseen, on his "word" that they would use these cards to rate their play. How does that player look now? Well, we see how he looks after he tried to arrange another outing.

Paying full price is fine, but just by giving your email to the casino/hotel websites, you will get discounted offers, including even free rooms!

Same for using that little card. I get one at every place I go to, no matter if I plan on coming back, or not. (Simply because you never know, and it doesn't cost you a thing to use it!) I still get offers in the mail every month from places I have only been to one or two times TEN YEARS ago!

Just for being on mailing lists, I can get a room in almost any casino in Vegas for cheaper than just booking "off the street". Monte Cralo just sent me an offer for three free nights in a suite, food and beverage, and $300 in play. I've never stayed at Monte Carlo! Only played there a couple times when walking through the casino, and getting on their mailing list!

They have to know who you are, guys.

I can only tell if tits are fake by taste. :mj07:

I'm in wherever we decide to have it. Remember if you keep it within driving distance, I can provide the rolling bar again this year.

Makes no matter, yo!

13 people from our group spent $0 in casino

belterra didnt keep records of alcohol consumed by our group or it would be no brainer to have us back:mj07: :mj07:

Sorry yyz, didn't understand the game....hell, Ang and I just went to Vegas for the first time a month ago and we did have cards there, because we knew we would go back. Alan, our bad for making you look bad. I understand how it looks after yyz's explanation. Thanks.

the host isn't mad and it doesn't make alan look bad, she just can't justify another comp. and, really, it was only a 100 bucks or so anyway

the truth is, she prob doesn't want to deal with me again and 500 emails and bitching and moaning about the tee times, etc, etc :mj07:

i was shocked, but she e-mailed me the printouts-names deleted. poker play did nott make her computer but if it was close she could get that info

working on horseshoe now, 1 hour southwest of belterra

horseshoe is MUCH better. easier to get to for the ones flying in, the food is much better, the casino is 5 times bigger and the poker room blows away belterras.

and if you've ever played at a harrahs property and have their card you can probably get comped on your own.

That Harrahs place looks good and more convenient to get to for the out of towners. Funny, the cards we have from Vegas are the Total Rewards because we stayed at Paris. Just give us some dates and let people chime in, and make sure golf finishes before dusk. :142smilie

Thanks Alan

I played in that one poker tourney and that was it. I am not sure what it was that weekend, but I was more into drinking and golfing than the tables. I'd be more than happy to fork over a little money for a room.

How bout St. Louis. This course:
http://crystalspringsquarry.com/

is 3 minutes from Harrahs w/ hotel. Five minutes from Ameristar. Ahhhh, Gateway to the Midwest, where the grass is green, the chicks are easy, and -- according to Fekhler -- there are the most sports bars in the world.

Ihave played this course. They need to throw down some more grass seed. Kind of bare in a few spots. Belterra much nicer. But Horsehoe would be GREAT.
