My son played 7th grade basketball is past season. Trev and his team really struggled, finishing 1-12 on the season losing on average by 40 + points... most teams being very kind......Our League is very strong with kids that play year round.
I had these kids last year in Rec. Ball, we were very sucessful in a VERY WEAK League. Some of the parents asked me to help he kids after the season ended.....I'm the 1st to admit, I love the game of basketbal but I'm no Coach or student of the game......
So in January I reached out to Agent.....I've enjoyed reading of his run the last few years with differents teams.....I'm not one thats shy about asking for help so I sent Chad an email asking if he'd mind sharing some ideas. I gave him a brief overview of what I had and what I was up against....Mind you these kids could barely tie their shoes let alone play basketball as a team.
I was shocked at the time & thought Chad went to putting a gameplan in place for our team.....He sent a breakdown of a Read & React Offense with videos and said to call with any questions....This email was a mile long :lol: Needless to say I called and Chad spent over an hour helping me out with all my questions.....
We've spent the last two months learning the offence and working very hard with a group of older players to get stronger.
We had our 1st game last Monday against a team that beat our kids by 40 & 45 points in two games this past season....These games could have been 70-80 point blow outs if they wanted....Our kids played hard losing by 17, missing 27 Ft's as a team :facepalm: Overall I was happy the way we played....
We went out and practiced with our local Jr High/High School/AAU Teams on Wednesday and something clicked with this team........It was the BEST practice to date and our kids felt so good about it, especially playing against/with the older kids.....
Yesterday we played a 7th/8th Grade Travel Team we hadn't seen this year and won 76-26 (we called off the dogs early too).....My kids were in shock....
Tonight we played a local 6th Grade All Star Travel Team from our district that is loaded.....These kids have been giving our kids grief all season long telling them how bad they were and how bad they were going to kick their ASS!
Well tonight my Team went out and executed Agents Offencive Plan to a T! We ended up waxing them by 16 :00hour
