Any hope it may sink back into the sea soon?

I've only felt one quake since I've been here, and it was quite mild. I was excited though as it was my first. I think we are overdue for a big one, but it seems like they say that about most areas that are earthquake-prone.

What is the news coverage like and the patriotism?

Is the social barometer more measured towards empathy for your unfortunate countrymen or not so much?

Remember, that plane crash?

How are the Hashish Buds in Peru?

Oh you said "life" in Peru. Do you have any good bass fishing? How is the cocaine export business there?

Most of the weed around here is pretty schwaggy, and I rarely got good stuff the first year I was here. Now I consistently get dank, but it is still nowhere near the amazing stuff in the States.

I honestly have no clue about bass, but I think there is some good trout fishing in the mountains. Plenty of locals here make their living fishing the ocean in the tradtional caballitos de totora (little reed horses), which they have been using for more than 3,000 years. They like to claim they are the oldest surfers in the world, but they don't exactly surf them.

Peru has in the past few years taken over the lead from Colombia as the largest cocaine producer in the world, so I would say business is good. You can buy a gram of face-melting, pure as the Devil's snow cocaine here in town for 30 soles, about $11.50.

Is Weed Legal??

It is legal to possess up to or 8 grams of marijuana 8 grams of coke. I never worry about smoking on the street, but I don;t flaunt it in front of the cops. Supposedly in some parts of Peru the cops will try to hassle tourists about it, but it doesn't happen here.

Best city to visit?

Best city to live?

Where do the expats hang?

Arequipa in southern Peru has the best women, Lima in central Peru has the best food and most things to do and Trujillo (near where I live) in northern Peruhas the best weather.

Most expats are in Lima, but there are pockets of expats all over the country.

How fast is your internet connection?

It was pretty slow when I first got here a few years ago, usually between 150-200k. :scared Now it is usually around 500k, which is fast enough to stream sports without shit cutting out all the time. :00hour

The women? More Colombian like or more Brazilian like? Or is there much difference?

Sorry, I missed this one before. This is the most disappointing part of living in Peru. In Colombia you get whiplash walking down the street. There are drop-dead gorgeous women EVERYWHERE! I feel that Colombia has the hottest women on the planet. There women are much more average here, and unfortunately they tend to be a little round around the middle. That is good when it is below the waist, but not so much when it is higher.

To tell you the truth, I rarely watch the local news or read a newspaper. The papers seem very sensational, as they love to splash full-color, bloody murder photos in their pages. The barometer tends to run towards empathy IMO.
