remember these days..
had a lotta fun days back in the day..
but that damn handtruck thru the snow just sucked to no end.

About a year ago a guy was moving a hand truck of beer into Walmart and looked pissed. I said to him, "too bad you didn't get the potato chip job, huh?". That didn't go over well. :142smilie

I had a buddy years back that had a truck just like that......Coke though......Tough job....2 men for sure.

rolled 500 cases a many a day ..
just me the handtruck and the "Driver Can't Open It'' Safe..sign
when we went to the
we all hired full time helpers..Co. paid half and we route guys paid the other half..
we would do a 1,000 cases most days during peak time..
Coors coming East of the Mississippi was a Boom for those distributors who Coors Brewery chose to distribute the product..
goal was 5,000 a week some of us ripped that quota to shreads ..especially those with military bases where the service guys loved the Coors Banquet
Could tells stories that would make anyone shake their head in disbelief about the impact that Coors coming East had on the beer industry those first 2 years..
Long days for many route guys........nothing to work 60 hour work weeks and for those with the long trips out and back 70 to 75 hours a week
pockets full of money and sucking down Coors and Coors light like the brewery was going to run out of Rocky Mountain Spring Water
take that bad boy above out the gate at 6AM and get back in by 10 pm..
check up..money vs cases and post results w/receipts ...11PM..
get up at 4:30 AM ...shower..drive..check cases to manifest and pull out at 6AM again..
"Big Boy" work we called it.
coke..pepsi..all the beer guys...ya was a bad mother trucker back in the day..
raises hand but not big rig delivery like pics posted.......
just reg. food delivery and it's ok but have to deal with lots of problems
aware of area where i'm delivering drive around look out for a trap setup or people lurking around that might rob me or hurt me or shoot me!
Thats my biggest fear ...

Thank you Old School. Never had to worry about a lay off. I worked a lot of long hard days that's for sure. Ran home delivery for 7 years. That was interesting. Took a supervisor position bout 20 months ago. Still have to relieve the routes for days off and vacations. Trying to hang on for another 16 months.
no actual delivery experience...but in high school I worked loading ups trucks......

I had one of those during high school summer. It was the 11pm to 8am shift, loading tractor trailers with Gino's stuff. At lunch break the first day I left and never went back. :sadwave:
