I have been busy with taxes and have stayed away for a couple weeks, and only a few others knew i was seeing a friend and former worker of mine in Albuquerque who just found out ten days ago he had stage 4 stomach cancer.
I spent time with him this weekend after his ex-wife notified me that his liver shut down thursday. I made it up there friday evening, and saturday morning he passed away. Sammy was 42 years old, had a 16 year old son and a one year old daughter.

I thank the lord for taking him so fast as he was in terrible pain, and he could not get comfortable no matter what the nurses did for him. This is the second friend of mine this year that passed away and lived a normal life up to the day they died. We just never know when it's our day, which makes me tell god everyday how thankful i am for the life i have and the friends and family i still have l left.

Sometimes it is hard to understand and why some question faith, why a good person at such a young age with a one year od daughter woud be taken a away in just eight short days from all of us. We hear that God has a plan? Don't know where i fit in any of this, but thank you for how long i have lived and the blessed life i have had so far. This puts things in perspective, as none of us know when our time will come, live and enjoy life everyday, and be thankful for what time we have had on this beautiful earth together.
Guys like KOD and some others who have wasted days fighting with me and continously putting me down on this site, really don't bother me a bit in the scheme of things.I will even try to be nicer, more like Thunder when i come back!
Hope all of you tell your kids you love them today. I am going on vacation for 3 weeks starting this friday, and i will spending extra time this trip with with mom. She's 78 and lives alone in Iowa. She's always been there for me and now she is ailing, i need to be there for her. I hope to see a few of you along my trip, and will be ending up in Fort Worth, Texas fishing with fatdaddycool on my way back to New Mexico. You all have a good three weeks, talk to ya when i get back! Be safe,
your friend,

Sorry Dave. God has bigger plans for all of us. Looking forward to meeting you and the wife and doing some fishing and golfing. Just think, in one weekend we will all experience several thrilling things that some may never do. It's all in how you live your life. I certainly don't want to be that guy that spends his life with his eyes closed. I like being the dude that enjoys the gifts of my surroundings. I abide man, this dude abides....:00hour

Sorry to hear about your friend Arrow. Where does your mom live in Iowa? Mine is 91 and lives by herself in Radcliffe Iowa--going back 1st week in May to spend some time with her and do some yard work etc. Yep life is way to short. Just went thru a bone cancer scare myself recently. Drive safe.

Sorry for your loss Dave, cancer is a bitch and has taken away far too many people from my life.

I know it sounds like a cliche, but it's important to live life to it's fullest and make sure those that you love know how you feel. :0008

Thats to bad, maybe we are just getting at that age where every few months we seem to lose more family and friends. To me in the 40's just is way to young. It's tougher on me the younger they are. 70-90 understandable. But greg was 51 and sammy 42. A little harder for me to take, but what can we do? Lot's to be thankful for, i know that!

i will be golfing in charles city for sure. where are you from?

ARROW:toast:

I live in Dewitt--a bit of a drive from where you will be. You golfing over the weekend or doing the week? Could possibly make it over for a round then--my wife has relatives in Charles City so that might work.
