Jack is almost correct on this.
But, you don't need to be a pro to hit a decent golf ball. You DO, however, have to have a decent game.
The balls that are made to 'spin', will do just that.....spin. So, when you hit that shit-assed slice, or wonderful top-hook that you are famous for......guess what? It will now be amplified by that $5 ball.
I love the way the Pro V feels off the the putter more than anything, but I like the extra distance on the driver and other shots, also.
I just bought a Ping G15 driver this summer, and it's the first top-of-the-line club I have ever purchased. That club alone has dropped my handicap from 14 to 11.1 in just 6 weeks. It added 25-30 yards to my drives, and made me far more accurate. Huge help.
Next will be new irons.
I'm hoping to get down to single digits real soon, and be a 5 or better by this time next summer.
Good equiptment certainly helps.
