3400 sq ft !

wow ! I was/am over whelmed by my 18 x 22 spot + removing the river rock. That's the big pain in the ass, and being that it has been over 105 up to 110 every day for 2 weeks ! Kinda cool for the Coachella Valley Standards, Summer is still a month away  Good thing the pool is no more than 15 steps away from the patch !

The soil isn't good. We just tilled up the back yard and fenced it in! We planted some clover and did a few things this winter like shredded paper, etc. In 3 years we will have this thing rolling and the soil will be perfect. We have 4 bins of our own compost and that will help a lot when we spread it. We will do several loads of leaves too. I started a worm farm last winter inside and then let them all loose this spring, they are EVERYWHERE! Will prob have both kids start their own this winter. The organic pest control and companion planting will take some learning.

It's meaningful work for my kids. They water and plant and dig. They love to help. They will rip a carrot straight out of the ground and rinse it off and eat it. Give them a carrot in a a bag and they look at you like a you are a weirdo. Nothing like watching your 4 year old go out and climb a cherry tree and grab a couple cherries for a snack!

The savings for us each month have been HUGE:toast:
