You guys ever sell the excess as a means of a little income...a la roadside stands?

There is a great farmers market in town and I am considering it. Jes might bake some gluten free stuff. The problem with fresh stuff is if you don't sell it right away, then what? With this being our first year we are still finding our way- and a lot of our stuff isn't producing yet (like the fruit trees and bushes).

The direction I think I will go is to can a lot of stuff and sell it that way. Looked into getting the kitchen certified- which is impossible with 4 dogs. So will prob rent a kitchen once a year and do all my canning there to sell.

You want some sauce?:0074

must be hell keeping all that irrigated in this weather......

mad props...

Not at all. We give it an inch per week. We have a rain water collection system set up as well as sprinklers that cover the whole garden. It rains a lot here in VA. The raised beds require quite a bit more as they drain quick so we hand water those about every night but it's kinda nice in the hot weather to go out and do that and spray the kids and dogs down.

So far we have about 150 lbs of tomatoes. Just made some more sauce last weekend :0074

Picked 10 lbs of potatoes and they are stored in the root cellar we just built.

Today we picked our Edamame. 11lbs worth! Took me about 4 hours to process it all, then we washed it, boiled it, and vacuum sealed about 25 bags for storage.

Another bushel of tomatoes picked today. 28 jars of sauce made! Took Jes about 13 hours of grinding, cutting, and stirring!!
