to get this back on track. any good news yet, jon?

Nothing really new.

Had someone see my website the about 2-3 months ago from California, he's called me 3 times now w/lots of info. Offered to fly him down and pay for hotel stay, lost wages, etc. Don't even know if he would be a compatible match without testing. It comes out yesterday that he wanted an "undisclosed but significant" amount of money. I'd do it in a second (he would see the check after the procedure) but it goes against my ethics, my wife did not like the idea one bit and she has been the most supportive throughout all of this, nor did my family like the idea. Also, thinking about it more it sounds sort of like a scam and it pisses me off that there are people out there phukking with others lives who are in pain.

Thanks to everyone for the continued support. From time to time I try to post and read the site when I'm feeling up to it and it lifts my spirits.

And Box, thanks for lighting those candles for me and keeping me in your prayers. The people at Madjacks will be the first to know if something develops (been on kidney list for about a year now so I must be kidding closer).

Thanks everyone,

Jon Kneifl

Good news!!!

Good news!!!

My best friend, Tim, is donating his kidney to me. I have known him for 20 years and he lives in Kansas City. He owns two decent sized companies and is successful and educated, and has a boy and a girl. We always hung out together in high school, college, and after college vacationed together as well. Recently he flew down here twice to get tested at GU and UMD and now everything is on schedule for August 1st. This has really taken me by surprise and made me look at the broad picture a little bit. I initially thought someone in my family might help me out, however I didn't hear anything from cousins, relatives, etc. Everyone should really treat their great friends like their family.

So the surgery date is coming August 1st, and I might not be posting much afterwards depending on my recovery time. However, I'll drop by and let everyone know how it went. Also, thanks so much to everyone for their support and well wishes.

Thanks,

Jon Kneifl

Jon, my cousin had a kidney transplant a couple of years ago and the majority of the procedure was done arthroscopically to minimize the time that the body cavities were open to the air. Before ever making the large incisions, both the donor and recipient's kidneys were detached and moved outside of the abdomen.

My cousin went shopping at the Dallas Galleria with her sisters three days after the procedure. I hope that your own recovery goes as smoothly as hers did.
