OSU shouldn't have to beat Michigan twice. Provided that Florida/Arkansas both have two losses, It's ND's by default. They'll have beaten two probable conference champs by that point.
It's really not that hard to figure out.
Maybe it shouldn't, maybe it should
*Assuming USC beats CAL
IF ND beats the #2 ranked BCS team (USC) @USC, where USC has the nations LONGEST home winning streak, I think ND has earned their invite to the BCS NC game. Especially since USC has been the top program in CFB the last 5 years. Everyone knows ND will get USC's best shot. (vice versa)
You then have a scenario where Ohio St. ended their season beating the current #2 BCS team (Michigan), and ND ending their season beating the (current) #2 BCS team ON THE ROAD!
do you really think fsu deserved to be in that title game over nd? i'm not a biased fan like a lot of people. right now i'd take usc -6 over the irish. i don't have blinders on. sure i'd love the irish to be in the title game but i don't see how they'll go on the road, play mistake free football and come out with a win. i think you realize michigan is probably going to lose a tough contest to ohio st and not get to play in the bcs title game which is unfortunate since they would've lost in late november as opposed to one of the other teams who lost in sept or oct and has climbed up the rankings. if i was a mich fan and nd got in over a one loss mich fan i would be very angry and think the system is a joke but thats how things are in college football. i would vote for a 4 team playoff but my vote is meaningless.
the loser of Michigan/OSU will have (a) one loss and (b) has already beaten the the #2 BCS team, ON THE ROAD! (@ Texas, @ND)
(Not to mention the conveniently forgotten fact that UM beat ND by 26 points, in their crib.)
I want to reiterate, I don't disagree with the notion that there should be no rematches in the title game. In fact, I think UM and OSU should be an elimination game. However, given the head to head performances and potential resumes......I ask again, how is ND even in this discussion?
I don't believe FSU did, no. I also don't want to see UM back into the title game with a loss.
My point in starting this thread was to point out that, under no circumstances, should ND be included in the BCS championship. Any team that loses at home by more than three touchdowns simply cannot be determined to be one of the best two teams in the country.
The system may be a joke, but there has to be SOME rationality to it.
scott4usc :mj122:
what do you say to that scotty? Both UM and OSU beat #2 teams on the road this year.....so that should offset your ND argument........if two teams that end with the same record and relatively the same strength of schedule.......what is next? Head to head in my book.......ark shouldnt have an argument over usc and nd shouldnt have an argument over michigan.......
Like I said. Assuming USC beats Cal....
ND beats USC @USC, they end the year beating the #2 BCS team. In addition, USC has the nations longest home win streak (has not lost since 2001 @home), and USC has been #1 program the last 5 years. So it will be a very impressive win for ND.
MICHIGAN loses to OSU, they end the year losing to the #1 BCS team. ;142loser:
So tell me why would YOU want Michigan over ND playing for the BCS NC?
WHY should Michigan get 2 chances to beat OSU 1 time?
Why would anybody want to watch a team who ended the year with a LOSS play for the BCS NC? Wouldn't you want a team who just beat #2 BCS team @USC?
IT IS A NO BRAINER!
The Ohio St./Michigan game is meaningless if you think the loser should get a shot in the BCS NC game. I think a team should EARN their way to the BCS NC and should not get invited after they end the season on a losing note.
I DO NOT REWARD LOSERS! :nono:
Thats fine if you don't think the ohio st/michigan loser shouldnt get to play for the NC.....but ND should not jump michigan.......and Notre Dame is not playing the 2002, 2003,2004 and 2005 Trojans so your argument is pointless......They are playing the 2006 Trojans who lost to an unranked Oregon St team who got sh.it on by Boise St........so if you don't reward losers......its winner of ohio st./michigan vs. possibly an undefeated rutgers team or a boise team?
If ND plays a tougher schedule than Michigan (barely tougher), and both teams have 1 loss, ND ending the season a WINNER over USC, Michigan ending the season a LOSER over Ohio St., why reward a LOSER and punish a WINNER?
