everbody`s getting their gub`ment cheese,bunky....13 more weeks.....it`ll be 92 weeks and counting...

you should know this better than anyone..

*26 weeks regular unemployment benefits

*33 weeks Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Program

*20 weeks Extended Benefits (EB) Program

*13 weeks NEW extended benefits

Nope. You get 26 weeks from the state, then you move onto the Fed program. What he did was deny some people checks this week. It was a scumball thing to do. But you keep on defending a Senator who takes a stand, one which he didn't vote for, to deny people what might be rent money and jobs.

With all due respect - sort of - the unemployment benefits I've received have not done anything to enable me to further my education. The amount of money I've received - a partial benefit - wouldn't go very far in paying for anything, I assure you.

AND, interesting you take this position now - it's intended as a safety net, but when arguing the opposite side, you call it a vacation. I think you'd have a pretty damn hard time pulling off what I've been pulling off since I was partially layed off and able to take this "vacation" I've been on. Trying to keep my composure here, but I can't expect you to understand something you don't have to deal with, and don't care much to think about, either.

if we lived in utopia...and had a blank check(like some seem to think),i`d be all for everyone getting money for not working....

but the bill`s coming due...i can`t change that..you can`t change it...

the adults have to take over at some point...or the country`s going belly up....

i think the problem is,you guys don`t understand what that means...

Perhaps we should bring some troops home so that people who paid into the unemployment system can get benefits they should have access to when they need it?

Just out of curiosity Wease, what would you suggest all those millions of newly unemployed people do since there are far fewer jobs out there at this point? You clearly don't think they should try to better themselves and change careers to get a different job by going back to school. You don't think they should have access to unemployment benefits. What exactly should these people do? Losing their homes. Losing their insurance benefits. Losing their jobs. Sometimes both partners in the family.

Ideas? Anything specific, other than the usual get of their asses and um, get a job?

Of course there are people that take advantage of the system. But I don't think NOW is the time to attack that system, when so many new people - many who argued the same thing you are now - are facing these issues.

I understand perfectly what it means. I consider myself an adult, completely. I guess you're saying I'm not an adult. I KNOW you think you have a better understanding of issues - or this issue - than I do. This is one specific issue, and you are lumping it all together, and labeling me a simpleton.

I'll hold back my personal comment to you here, out of respect for you. But I understand things every bit as well as you do, and I get really tired of you taking that authoritarian, intelligent position and labeling someone who doesn't agree with you to be simpleminded. There are two sides to most issues. And you are not always right - sorry.

glad you asked bud(and i must say i have absolute sympathy for your situation...i`m just being realistic)....

i would suggest that they take a small chunk of all that leftover stimulus money(only 29.62 % has been spent) and use it for the extension....

at least it`s money we have...but,the dems are holding that money out until november(to0 try and buy some of the congressional elections that look lost)...

as far as the economy,i would take the special interest shackles off our energy resources(natural gas/oil shale/nuclear etc) and put people to work procuring our own energy.....

if you`re married to the windmill/solar b.s.,theres no reason that can`t continue in conjunction with the real ebergy industies.....

we have so many people out of work, after all..... plenty of work to go round...utilizing our own energy resources would give the economy a real kick in the ass...

of course,it won`t happen...too many special interests...too much bureaucracy...

it`s too....capitalistc...:grins:

Man you are a douche.

How do you know his parents have not passed?

Maybe your parents bailed your ass out over and over again but most of us have not done that.

Neither are good wars. One day you will figure it out.

Ohh yeah and fuck you for thinking I depend on my parents. You are the biggest A hole on this board. People with different views than you might even be better off than you. I know thats hard to imagine. Someone who has money giving a fuck about poor people. Are you religious by chance? Wouldn't surprise me at all.

people are poor for a reason, either mental unstable, substance abuse, lazy, all the above most of the time.

Thats not true.

Plus the discussion was about unemployment. Even the best people get laid off. Sure some are lazy fucks that milk the system but that is not true of most people. Most people want to work.

You realize Bunning voted against the pay as you go bill.

Do you know why they call it unemployment insurance?

Everything you post can be dismantled so easily. Keep trying though.

-- what about the era of responsibity/pay as you go rants--from Gumby???
While increasing national debt limit twice in little over a year and quading the deficit- DUH
ItsNotMyFaultItsBushsFault.jpg

--on the unemployment issue--I'm not sure what bill was in geneneral

But I certainly don't think expanding unemployment to 90+ weeks will do much to entice people back to work :SIB

--if so-- lets make it 5 years or lifetime--to which Da Base replys :00hour

I knew we would hear from our resident Kentucky boy. Do some research and maybe you can find the bill. Bunning voted against it. Then he makes an ass of himself.

I guess you think 26 weeks is enough. Do you know anyone out of work? I would guess not. I bet you don't have many friends.

My guess is that you have never had a high paying job. Go figure. I thought salesmen made a nice paycheck. Ohh yeah that was years ago. Do you know how much unemployment is? Its shit.

Don't you think we should be spending money on helping people get by until their next job, or re-educating them like Chadman as opposed to bullshit wars that YOU supported? You know those billions of dollars that were wasted?

You do realize these so called deadbeats paid into the system? You know the ones Bunning said 'tough shit' to? You are scum.
