Living in Las Vegas Part 2
I decided to play at the Wynn today. Let me first say this; I LOVE the Wynn. It's probably my favorite casino. It's beautiful, it's appealing, the rooms are the best, the service can not be beaten in LV, the cocktail waitresses are all knockouts and friendly, the poker room delivers incredible action, and the comps are fairly generous.
I would go to the Wynn more, but I am always trying to work on my diamond card at the Ceasars properties, bc I want to maintain that. I sat down with $300, and in the second hand, I called in early position with AK, there were 5 callers, and the button made it $35. He was short stacked, I thought he was making a position move, and I had a premium hand, so I made it $100, he went all in, and his QQ was good. This starts me $150 in the hole right away. I added on $100 and kept playing. I won a pretty good pot with 8♦️7♦️ when I flopped trip 8s, then I raised my button later with Q♦️10♦️ and a guy paid me off with a flush when the board had 4 hearts but three 7s and a 10 (full house), so I was back up a little over my starting stack. I played a few more hours and was tiring of my game, so I racked up $400 to the dollar and cashed out.
To my direct right, there was a mid-20s Asian local grinder. I had a confrontation with him almost immediately. We were in a hand, and the action was on him. I looked at the dealer, and she looked at me. I asked him, "Did u check?" He said, "Maybe you should ask the dealer." He's a complete smart ass. The dealer told him that the way he checks is deceptive and not readily apparent. He had a $200 stack of reds, and with another chip, he gently taps the top of the stack to check. I told him it was a lame way to check, so he said he would announce his checks in the future.
A few minutes later, I noticed that he had a black $100 chip on top of his reds with 2 $1 blue chips on top of it. I said to him very audibly, "Can you please put your big chip on top so it is readily visible to the entire table?" He said, "how about I put it here," and he put it in front of him but near my stack. I told him that was probably a bad idea bc it was in my space, and he said another smart ass thing but ended up moving it a few hands later.
This guy is obviously trying to get into the heads of the other players including me. Once he gives me the first smart comment, then it's game on for me, bc I can talk it with anybody which goes back to days playing basketball. Anyway, a later hand, he won a pot with 95, and I said, "Dolly Parton". He asked me a few minutes later what that meant, so I explained the reference. We exchanged some more banter later about our cards sucking, etc., and when I left we acknowledged each other, and I told him good luck. I've had several poker friendships that started out in a tenuous manner, so I'll probably see him around again.
I made the short walk over to the Sports Book and placed this bet.
The sportsbook chairs are sweet! Very comfortable and supportive and with a springy type feel. I enjoyed watching the game which won, and I had a nice Orange Julius. I also took a few more pics. I'm picking up B from work now, and I might head out again later. I'm definitely going out tomorrow afternoon, so more then.
