after that blatent cheap shot on Clifton of the Packers... the play is 50 yards away - and he jumps in the air and puts Clifton on the stretcher.

I'm surprised that the Packers coach didn't send someone after Sapp's knees the rest of the game.....Thankfully Sherman had more class in the last hour of play than Sapp will have in his lifetime...

Don't get me wrong, blocking someone when the play is on the other side of the field is fine... but cheapshotting someone like Sapp did is unforgiveable...

The acceptable suspension for Sapp would be, he can play when Chad Clifton is 100% again and ready to play...if that means Sapp is out for the season, so be it.... It would be just reward..

I can't see any way that he won't be suspended once the league reviews the play - I'm guessing 2 games - which is not nearly enough....

Just my honest opinion...

Yes it seems stupid on his part. Waitng to see more replays to form a better opinion. But much like a boxing match. Once on the field you better be ready tp protect your self at all times. I know there is a code between most players not to do real dumb things. So lets see what the league thinks.

why do all packer backers cry when the packers lose
I'm not a 'Packer backer' but I just saw a replay of this incident and I have two opinions:

1 - It WAS a cheap shot - very cheap, and the laughing on the sidelines was even woese.

2 - Sapp gets paid to be a thug on the field which he does very well. He was outclassed by Sherman after the game which doesn't require much on Sherman's part actually, most second graders could outclass Sapp off the field.

If that's 'crying' then so be it. Are you defending Sapp?

To say that it was a cheap shot from the comfort of our couches is one thing, but the decisions that you make on the field with all the adrenaline; looking to get a good shot on the same guy that has been trying to put you on your @ss since the first play of the game is something that I don't think that we're able to fairly evaluate.

Celebrating on the sidelines, that's the low class move.

I'm surprised the Packers didn't give old Sappy a couple of crack backs after that cheap shot. Sapp was real proud of it. I agree with the writer that says if a player gets knocked out of a game by a blatant cheap shot, the perpetrator gets suspended for equal time. That would eliminate some of that crap.
I better watch out. My adrenaline is getting pumped up. I might go outside and punch my neighbor in the face.

Sapp is fawking thug....he was even worse in Miami, I remeber he cost my brother some serious cash because he would always hit the QB late and get flagged all the time. Fawk him....and he has the nerve to sit there in the interview and say basically that it wasnt a big deal....come on....fine that fat fawk.

Freddie, if you noticed

Freddie, if you noticed

there wasn't any comments about the officiating, the lack of a penalty called on Sapp.... basically, I don't see anything in my message about "crying about a loss"....

Would've put the same message up if GB would have won.....

Sounds like you are just reacting like a frustrated Bears fan.. which I can understand, cuz they are really bad again this year....

Sapp should have pounded Sherman when he had the chance. Packers were getting there cheap shots in all day, not counting the holding Rivera and the boys did every 3 out of 4 plays on Warren ans a few other Buc players. He'll be fine when he gets home with his millions to play with im sure. We just saw one cheap shot of many.

Personally I find this statement disturbing. I don't think any player should ever 'pound' any coach, regardless. I just wonder if you think the coach should be pounded if it were, perhaps, Tony Dungy?

Of course Sherman was mad after a loss, is he supposed to be happy? The bottom line is that Sapp laid a cheap shot on a guy and then laughed about it on the sidelines as the guy is being carted out on a stretcher. Perhaps that is now considered to be quality sports and Sapp gets to go home and happily count his millions while his victim sits in the hospital and counts his teeth. Yeah, that's a quality life all right.

To me it's just another indicator of societal decline and a general lack of sportsmanship. Whoops, I guess I better shut up before someone wants to 'pound' me as well.

Well put!! On the field is one thing...after the game with a coach that is much his senior is a completely different thing.
Hopefully the league will get involved, but if not, the players around the league have been known to address their own problem players.
Just another example of the lack of respect for people, once a person has fame and fortune.

Keep it Positive, Topdog

Skinar sorry my comment was disturbing to you. I meant Clifton will be counting his money when he gets home.

* Skinar im a lover not a fighter:D

Sorry if I upset you with my comment. But all it was was a comment nothing more.

By the way congrats to all TB backers.

There's no reason a coach should have anything to say to another team's player. Sherman should have just walked off the field.

And as for Sherman asking his players to go after Sapp's knees. Why would he change their gameplan in the 4th quarter. Their chops on run plays were ridiculous.

I see a generational difference amongst the posters here. I don't care how you spin it, a 'comment' that suggests that an extremely young and powerful athlete should 'pound' a man who is much older just violates everything that I was taught when I was growing up. While I accept your apology I still am concerned with the feeling that it's just a 'comment', nothing more. 'Comments' like that have cost people positions of power so just let me suggest, respectfully, that you think about things like this prior to making such comments in the future.

Sapp's still a thug in my book, he's very lucky he happens to be a great football player and I hope that he has a good investment counselor so that he doesn't run out of millions any time soon. I hope he doesn't end up as one of those sad footnotes in NFL history 30 years from now.
