Also I still believe my earlier statement that they will struggle to get a quality replacement. Who is going to want to go there when they see how Leach was railroaded?

Rumors are it is already a done deal.
Sonny Dykes the current offensive co. for Arizona and son of former Tech coach Spike Dykes will get the job. Spike Dykes is still very involved in TT and is in great standing with AD Gerald Myers.

I guess that makes a bit of sense. I'm still a bit baffled by it.

Born in Lubbock and a big Tech fan...

Born in Lubbock and a big Tech fan...

This is total bullshit. Who else will Tech get who can get more with less talent? Obviously we don't get the guys that UT, AL, FL, and even A&M etc...get and yet the way they have been able to compete the last few years shows what a hell of a coach Leach is. Little puss James acts like an spolied piece of shit and gets dealt with in a way his " born with a silver spoon in his mouth" isn't used to. Got to be friggn kidding me. Leach did more for Tech than any other coach has in terms of exposure and success.
:sadwave:
At least the players fat little girlfriends can breathe a sigh of relief:mj07:

I've been a Tech fan since I was little kid. My first two favorite football teams where the Steelers and Red Raiders. For the first time in 30+ years I'm angry at the school I grew up loving. I now have a degree from a school I don't want any part of and it sucks.

Meyer's let his feud with Leach get in the way of the best thing Tech had going for it. Meyer didn't want to sign Leach to an extension but was trumped by the people that matter.

If Tech doesn't get Sonny Dykes as its next coach then I expect they will go after current Houston offensive coord. and former TT offensive coord. Dana Holgersen.

I think Tech will get someone already well known in Lubbock.

Art Briles

I don't think they go after him but if I had to say odds of guys who will be next coach at TT then they would be :
Sonny Dykes 60%
Dana Holgersen 25%
Art Briles 10%
Someone else 5%

I have heard Briles really doesn't want to go back to TT.

Not positive but I'm almost certain he's stated that it's a job he's always wanted. He graduated from Tech, he's a West Texas guy and his recruiting would be a lot easier than at Baylor because of the academic standards.

Now, I'm not sure about Tech wanting him. Meyers is the kind of guy that is dumb enough to hire Dykes because he is "family." Don't get me wrong, I love the Dykes family. I grew up in Midland loving football and it was mainly because of Spike but Sonny hasn't done anything for me to think he would be a great coach. Maybe I'm wrong but my hope is for Briles to get the job.

Yeah I remember him saying something to that effect when he left Houston and went to Baylor about telling people Tech is where his heart is.
My friend who went to and follows Baylor football every waking second seems convinced Briles is more than happy at Baylor, but would probably bail back to Tech if offered so who knows.
I think it is pretty obvious that they will keep the hire with somebody that had ties to Tech already.

If Leach treated this kid in this way,he deserves to get the pink slip. You just don't treat kids or any athlete like that.

Don't matter who's son it is.If the kid was in fact hazed by the coach then thats just out of line.

I dont care if Leach has coached there 10yrs prior with no problem. This one incident just does not fly.

Concussions are becoming a growing problem in sports ,and the situation was just handled wrong.

The problem is that he was not fired because of the incident.
He was fired because of a beef between him and the administration which boiled over even more when he refused to apologize for this.

I am not sure this is a hazing of any sort.
Usually a hazing type deal means you are forced to do something.
All reports are that he was not locked in the room and could have left. A frat hazing usually leaves you no out.
Every player is saying James is a spoiled brat and was always late.
Putting in a air conditioned room to sit out practice is far from hazing.
Man these kids today are a bunch of pussies. I remember the whole team having to run miles and miles and miles after a long practice in HS after somebody screwed up. I would have traded sitting in a dark air conditioned room over that any day of the week.

Why is he jogging with sunglasses on.Why is he even practicing at all.Why is he put in a dark room after he shows up wearing sunglasses.

Thats treating a player with no respect. If that was my kid,I would have tons of questions of who, what and why?Seems pretty simple to me.Sounds like hazing without getting pissed on.

As far as the reason why he could get (or did he?)fired he sure opened up a huge hole for himself WITH THAT ONE INCIDENT.

according to what i have read the tt administration was upset with the way the salary negottiations went last year & used this has an excuse....the timing is not suprising because they were obligated to pay leach an extra $800,000 if he was still coaching tomorrow....

I very seriously doubt the story is true. I don't think Leach is that dumb. Kids need tough love these days, with all the coddeling of children these days, its refreshing to see a coach be old school. If his dad did not work for ESPN, Leach never gets fired.

In an affidavit included in Tuesday?s court filing, Leach said he ?would never intentionally harm or endanger a player? and that he has been ?forced into this situation without being afforded any process.? He also said ?absolutely? no evidence had been given to him that showed he had violated any university rules or standards.

Several former and current Texas Tech players and coaches defended Leach and harshly criticized James? work ethic in e-mails obtained by CBSSports.com.

Among those were former Texas Tech wide receiver Eric Morris, who wrote that James was ?never known as a hard worker? and ?seemed to have a negative attitude toward the football program the majority of the time.?

James is a spoiled little bitch who doesn't take kind to a little discipline so he went off crying to dad.
God I hate kids like this. Toughen up man. No wonder no teammates are coming to his defense. He is spoiled, lazy, and thinks he should be handed everything.
I am shocked he doesn't blame Mack Brown for not letting him score a TD against Texas.

you hit the nail on the head, kids need some tough love. A few ass whoopin's when these kids were younger probably would have done them some good. I always liked Leach, and he is a quirky guy no doubt, but to do what he is accused of doing, I dont think he is that dumb.

The problem is they are saying if Leach would have apologized to him behind closed doors then this never would have come out and all would have been fine with the James family.
So it only became a big deal when Leach stood his ground.
