Steak dinner at Ellis Island is $7.99 if you play one dollar of action in th slots first...obviously you have to have a players card there.

What do you guys think is the best Mexican restaurant in Vegas? It wasn't high-end but, we always used to make a stop at the Mexican place at the Frontier. Border Grill at Mandalay is good.

Pink Taco in Hard Rock decent.....

Poker in Vegas is on the downswing...

http://money.msn.com/business-news/article.aspx?feed=AP&date=20130228&id=16177060

I cut my teeth on poker in Vegas in the Seventies on seven card stud.
Everyone had it, after all it was Vegas.

The closest I can find today in ALL of Vegas, is a hi-lo seven card stud game at Suncoast ONCE a week.

These greedy casino owner fux are not happy till its ALL mindless slots and no employees to pay.

Eventually, limited poker will only be available at a few solid Vegas enclaves.

Been playing a lot of Omaha hi-lo...a lot better than trying to stay awake at the hold-em table with 2 crap cards over and over.

you ever take roa trip/short flight to commerce? you get all the stud you want... best poker room in the world imo

Boulder Station usually has 2 tables of $4 - 8 HI ONLY Omaha...Great game !!

Heard it was a major "Smoke Pit''
Walked past "Heart attack grill" on Fremont...350+ pound people eat free...waitress's dressed as nurses, customers down a hospital gown.....

"The establishment is a hospital theme restaurant: waitresses ("nurses") take orders ("prescriptions") from the customers ("patients"). A tag is wrapped on the patient's wrist showing which foods they order and a "doctor" examines the "patients" with a stethoscope. The menu includes "Single", "Double", "Triple", and "Quadruple Bypass" hamburgers,[1] ranging from 8 to 32 ounces (230 to 910 g) of beef (up to about 8,000 calories), all-you-can-eat "Flatliner Fries" (cooked in pure lard), beer and tequila, and soft drinks such as Jolt and Mexican-bottled Coca-Cola made with real sugar.[2] Customers over 350 lb (160 kg) in weight eat for free if they weigh in with a doctor or nurse before each burger. Beverages and to-go orders are excluded and sharing food is also not allowed for the free food deal.[3]

THE PLACE WAS PACKED< WITH A WAIT LIST....

Great tip, was in Henderson for the new Galaxy Deluxe theater with electric leather recliners, beer and wine...only seats 50 but the experience was over the top...

Sushi was outta this world, whats not to like with Sushi named "screaming orgasm, nipple twister," among other catchy names.. also had the mixed seafood and Yakitori noodles.

Must have been 6 kinds of fish and shrimp on this monstrous serving....pulled the squid tentacles out and brought them home for Fido...wife bet me a fiver he would not eat them....well, "Hoover" did not disappoint, ate them suckers and all, scarfled them down and looked for more.

A long way from strip but it will get my sushi action.:0008

Picked up my brother at the "Quad" (imperial palace) today Mar 12, lots and lots of New Mexico jerseys wandering around.

Ellis Island raised price to 8.99 on steak and beer special and you need coupon from players card kiosk.

Glad you enjoyed....the sushi chefs are great people....nevermind that it is so reasonable... to me it blows anything away on the strip (Nobu, Sushi Samba, Blue Fish, etc)
Have u tried the Jazz Brunch at the WYNN on the weekends? It around $55 per person but it is unreal! It may sound funny but I think it very reasonable for what you get.....
realize off beaten path but you mentioned u make it to LA sometimes... if so try a sushi place called Hama in the Venice Circle. Its a locals place very chill... they have a large projector of surf movies playing the whole time... GREAT sushi

Tired of greasy $12 strip burgers?

Tacos El Gordo...

$2.00 tacos that will knock your sox off....

Taco Adobada..spicy pork, pineapple, avocado crema, cilantro and onion wrapped in 2 griddle crisped, chewey corn tortillas...

Asada ( charbroiled steak tacos) loaded in warmed flour tortillas with avocado, onion and cilantro.

Lots of other stuff I have yet to try.

Ten bux (4 tacos & soda) spent here will bring a big smile....

This place is phenomenal. On some trips I go to that strip mall to get some Korean BBQ (which is 24 hours), but this time I wandered into El Gordo.
It's a great find if you are staying on the northern part of the strip! :toast:

Food truck and novel "condo" idea

Food truck and novel "condo" idea

Vegas has tons of "food trucks".

Wonder meals on wheels....

Was out and hungry for a quick meal stumbled into "dragon grill" corner of Sahara and Ft Apache.

$5.00 netted a big bowl of sticky rice, grilled chicken and 5 different home made sauces.....really filling and worth the stop.
It was owned by 2 ex-Imperial palace dealers, they got burned out and the tips were drying up with the lack of tourists fat bankrolls.
These vehicles are all over the west side and near north side almost everyday with something for everyone....

We parked in the shade by an empty for lease building.
When we were finished I was ready to pitch the leftovers in the brick dumpster next door.

I noticed the 3 brick sided 6 foot tall "dumpster" had chain link across the top and had a pad locked "gate". Peering inside, someone had fitted a queen bed, covers, a nite stand, dresser, and old carpeting. Had a bucket in the corner for serious business when the "speedy mart" was closed.
All that was missing was a 300 foot extension cord, running water and an address.

It was vacant, figure he or she was at their day job pan-handling on Decatur.

Last Vegas post.....on the road back to Okie-land Saturday; been a fun year again.

agree the taco place is good. got the spicy pork as asked about the beef and they said it was beef tongue, just could not make myself order it but probably is great.

not much english spoken here but they can understand enough to get your order right.

On my last stay in August, was disappointed by the buffet at the Palms.

Long-line (took 45 mins to get to the cashier, then they were out of plates for 15 mins)

Food very pedestrian. Shrimp bland, crab legs tasted like something you'd get frozen at Walmart.

Never again but that's just me.
