Kansas City area for who knows how long....
read this fellow's story "Two Years In A Chevy Volt: 12,000 Miles, 26 Gallons Of Gas" !

You have to drive almost exclusively in the car's electric charging range to get that spectacular mileage. As one reviewer wrote "on a round-trip commute without charging, I averaged 32-33 MPG [in the Chevy Volt] vs the 40.7 in the C-MAX Energi and 52 in the Prius Plug-In. The longer you drive your Volt without charging it, the more it will cost to run than the Ford or Toyota."

and the Ford has more leg and head room, better performance, seats 5 instead of 4, and costs thousands less.

Still, you are paying $30,000 for the performance and interior space of a $15,000 economy car with any of these.

I've only seen one Chevy Volt in this blue-collar Maine town I am at, as most locals can't afford such a car. Folks here are examples of your average citizen whose taxpayer cash was poured into subsidizing the development of this GM vehicle - a car destined to be used by their better-heeled brethren uptown.

At CES in Las Vegas last week, GM unveiled the newly redesigned Chevy Volt with a longer range and a better EV mode.

Just got this text from the Volt owner:

The gas tank hold 9 gallons

He filled his tank 3 times since June

Last time was filled was November 5th

Gas mileage in the spring summer months is 245 mpg less in the winter?

Above the Clouds....
What's the payback/roi on that now that gas is under $3 a gallon. I'm guessing the car won't last long enough to even see the break even point.

My Civic hybrid has 150,000 miles and still gets 50 mpg city-highway combined. 650 miles on a full tank. One of the better decisions I've made.

I don't think anyone looks for a roi when they buy a car.

He means all the extra money spent on the gas saver will never be made up vs a regular car. People who buy those things do it to save money on gas but they spend more on the car than they will save on the gas.

I have no idea what your talking about, please explain. Besides I only lease. :SIB

ps........remember, the Volt isn't mine.
I read your post as no one thinks of a return of investment "ROI" with a purchase of a car. I was saying certainly most men (ladies man persona) think about using their car to get some action.

Sorry I confused anyone.
